Leonard doesn't get one Carry

Prime 2nd Round Pick used on Brian Leonard - and he doesn't even get any carries anymore.

A Blocking Fullback that's smaller than the Runner he's blocking for? That's a real steep price.

The way he's being used, that pick could've been used for a Need like our Off-line.

Re: Leonard doesn't get one Carry

Lets add to that statement that our number 2 pick from last year has ZERO catches this year (klop). did we pass on ryan khalil to take leonard?

Yes, we passed on C-OG Kalil and we also passed on Texas DE Tim Crowder (Broncos) and he has 4 sacks and 1 Forced Fumble in 8 games - and has looked good.

We also drafted Jon Alston (Linehan's first draft) - so we either drafted a bust (we cut him) or we let him go before he developed into a Special teams monster.

Re: Leonard doesn't get one Carry

At the midpoint of the year ESPN's draft gurus do a redraft of that years draft and they actually have leonard going higher than where we got him. They also have ryan going way higher to so its looking like we have 3 gems according to espn. Not sure if you can call the guy a bust when it took steven 3 years to breakout.

I would post the link but cant.

Re: Leonard doesn't get one Carry

I dont think anyone is calling leonard a bust, but rather pointing out that running back may not have been the most need related position when there were other comparable players at positions of greater need. If we are talking first day busts, lets throw byrd into the mix.

Re: Leonard doesn't get one Carry

Exactly, GC. I like Leonard, and I'm glad to have him on the roster.

But those who reacted to his selection by arguing that a Second Round RB was a luxury that we really couldn't afford were spot on.

We didn't have Pittman when we drafted Leonard. Leonard was a great pick, let it rest ....
