Forgot to mention Orien Harris is a DT. 6-3, 300 lbs, age 25. This is his fifth team (Steelers, Browns, Bengals, Saints).

    Re: Leonard Traded

well..supposing its true..after all it is Rotoworld..

i did not see this one coming...i was expecting Leonard to have a bounce back year behind an improved line..tho i guess we had 5 RB and only 3 DT`s..

is it a straight swap or with extras? e.g future draft pick/s

    Re: Leonard Traded

Brian Leonard's two-year run with the Rams ended when the team traded him to the Bengals for defensive lineman Orien Harris. The move, which the Rams confirmed, was another reminder that the team is rebuilding.
Two years ago, Leonard was a promising second-round choice, a player then-coach Scott Linehan thought had the size to hold in pass protection as a third-down back in addition to getting carries as Steven Jackson's backup. Linehan envisioned Leonard as a durable backup and situational player. Instead, injuries slowed and sidelined Leonard, limiting him to two games last season.
In retrospect, the coaching change from Linehan to Jim Haslett to Steve Spagnuolo diminished Leonard's value to the Rams. In Harris, the Rams are getting a 300-pound defensive tackle who played sparingly for the Bengals last season. Harris entered the NFL as a fourth-round choice of the Steelers under Bill Cowher in 2006. Is he a 3-4 end or a 4-3 tackle?
Harris has bounced from the Steelers to the Browns to the Saints to the Bengals to the Rams in less than four NFL seasons. Perhaps he can earn a spot in the Rams' rotation.
For the Rams, this trade appears to be about getting something in return for a player who didn't fit into the team's plans under a new staff. Leonard was listed as a fullback, but at 226 pounds, he wasn't a bruiser in the Mike Karney mold. The Rams used a seventh-round choice on Chris Ogbonnaya from Texas. They also have Antonio Pittman, Kenneth Darby and Sam Gado behind Jackson. Jerome Johnson, a rookie free agent from Nevada, gives the Rams two true fullbacks.

    Re: Leonard Traded

Not a major move, but also not a bad one.

Whatever potential Leonard had, it was wasted when he was miscast as a FB. I'm betting that the Rams were concerned about his shoulders' ability to take a pounding, even at RB.

Harris was a very good player at UMiami who has never really caught on in the NFL. Still, he fills the Rams' need for a 4th DT in the rotation with Ryan, Carriker and Scott.

    Re: Leonard Traded

Orien has been on the roster of 5 different teams in 4 years (Steelers,Saints,Bills,Browns & Bengals)..now 6. has 14 career tackles with only one start...and is the younger brother of Kwame Harris (for what thats worth).

his resume dont exactly excite me but i`ll run with it because its been a decision made by Billy D who i have faith in..

    Re: Leonard Traded

If confirmed & from what I've just read about Harris, we didn't get much of a "something" in exchange for Leonard. This DT doesn't sound any better to me than camp body material.

If BL's injury problems were going to be a future issue, I guess getting rid of him makes sense but his soft hands, great attitude, and open field running ability seemed like a good fit for our new O scheme if it will be the WCO-based deal we've heard about.

A 2nd rounder who had shown solid potential and some decent productivity when used properly for a 4th rounder who has barely seen the field, never mind produced anything? A headscratcher on the surface.

let's hope the Bungles were the ones who bungled.

    Re: Leonard Traded

I hope Leonard has better luck with the Bengals than he had in St Louis.

It depends how many DTs the team plan to carry this season, if they're gonna keep four i wouldn't be surprised to see Harris make the team. If Wroten had any chance of making it back on the team i guess its gone now

    Re: Leonard Traded

I like it. We had a glut of RBs on our roster (though none of them is really the reliable backup we're looking for), and Leonard could have very well been the odd man out. Getting something, anything, for him is better than cutting him. Not to mention I'm sure we saved some money.
