Let's dig into Sundays game @ Detroit

Do we really have a chance at winning this game? I felt like we had a very good chance at winning at Jacksonville a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't far off. As we all know we lost in overtime.

Let's look at the Lions: (1-5)

    OFFENSE:
    ---------
    293.2- ypg
    194.2- pass ypg
    99.0- rush ypg
    3.7- yards per rush avg
    17.21 pts pg
    -4 - TO Ratio
    61.7 - QB Rating
    41/340- penalties/yards lost to date
22- times their QB has been sacked
    12- Giveaways (10 ints/ 2 fumbles lost)

    DEFENSE:
    ---------
    370.8- ypg
    258.5- pass ypg
    112.3- rush ypg
    4.6-yards per rush avg
    31.3 pts pg
    118.7- opposing QB Rating
    43/401- penalties/yars lost to date
    15- sacks
    8- takeaways

    ST. LOUIS RAMS (0-7)

    OFFENSE:
    ---------
    277- ypg
    165.7- pass ypg
    111.3- rush ypg
    4.4- yards per rush avg
    8.6- pts pg
    -7 - TO Ratio
    70- QB Rating
    50/450- penalties/yards lost
    16- sacks of our QB's
    15- giveaways (6 ints/ 9 fumbles lost)

    DEFENSE:
    ---------
    385.4- ypg
    249.6- pass ypg
    135.9- rush ypg
    4.3- yards per rush avg
    30.1- pts pg
    98.7- opposing QB rating
    32/254- penalties/yards lost to date
    12- sacks
    8- takeaways

Seriously what advantages do the Lions have coming into this game?

I can only think of a few.

    1. It's a home game for them
    2. They're coming off the bye week
    3. Julian Peterson ( This guys always plays his best games against us)
    4. Calvin Johnson is arguably better than any of our receivers.

However looking at the stats that I have posted above I see a couple of areas that we "should be able to take advantage of"?

The Lions D is BAD BAD BAD!!!!!

They're allowing a 4.6 yards per rush average...Hello Steven Jackson!!!

They're also allowing an opposing QB rating of 118.7...No excuses this week Mr. Bulger.

The Lions D is actually allowing (though by a very slim margin) more points than our D per game.

Their O-line has allowed more sacks in 6 games (22) then we have in 7 games (16)

Bottom line for me is that I'll take our defense over theirs everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.

I'll also take Marc Bulger over whomever they have at the QB position.

Steven Jackson over their RB or RB's...No brainer!

They may have an advantage at the WR position but not by much in my book.

The Lions have been penalized more in 6 games (84) than we have been in 7 games (82).

To make a long story short......IT"S TIME!!!!

My prediction is that we have a great chance of winning this Sunday. Although I'm not going to make any guarantees I will be very surprised if we don't come out of Detroit with a win.

GO RAMS!!!!!!!!!!! We need that winning feeling!!!

    Fixed that for you

But ya we have a great chance at winning. I agree as a bulger suporter there is not excuse for bulger not to succeed this week. I like the dude and have all the respect in the world for him but this is a weak lions secondary, the only player i even recognize is delmas and he is a rookie, we need to stretch them vertically and let steven get 200 yards from scrimmage this game.(My Fantasy league depends on you steven.)

Calvin Johnson is limited in practice and the Lions are holding off any judgments on him until Friday.

This is a very winnable game for the Rams. We look closely matched to the Lions which is a sad truth. Their QB has been sacked more than ours, but our offense has more penalties and giveaways. If we could stop the mistakes and score some points, this game could be ours and we could have a big W to put an end to this big losing streak.

My neighbors want to come over and root for the Rams too. The Redskins are on a bye week and they want to come over and get to watch the Rams with me. Might as well get excited for this game.

I don't know about you guys, but I have little to no faith in the coaching staff...we play conservative without a lead. If we lose this one, chances are we are going to be talking about the lack of knowledge from the Offensive Coordinator.

Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

I'll also be surprised if we don't beat the Lions on Sunday. As bad as most of our losses have been, we've actually stayed in the fight the last few games with opponents that are much stronger than the Lions.

This game will be a big indicator for the state of the team. IMO, a loss will be an all-time low for the Rams. These players and coaches are either going to dig deep and come through when their backs are against the wall, or completely collapse. I just don't see a complete collapse.

I also agree that Bulger has no excuses this week. Inexperienced receivers nor a patchwork OL should matter agianst a team as weak as Detroit.

    Here's the latest:

Lions have QB Stafford at practice, but WR Johnson can't go
    Associated Press

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford took another step toward being able to play.

    Matthew Stafford, QB
    Detroit Lions

    2009 Statistics
    Passer Rating: 65.5
    Passing Yards: 894
    TD/INT: 3/6
Stafford participated without limitations in the parts of practice that the media was allowed to watch Wednesday.

Stafford has missed two games with an injured right knee. The Lions had a bye last Sunday, giving the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft another week to recover.

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson's right knee injury prevented him from practicing with his teammates in the open portion of the workout. Johnson has missed one game with the injury.

The Lions (1-5) host the St. Louis Rams (0-7) on Sunday.
