Linehan Hiring Aftermath Proves That Some Ram Fans Are Never Happy

Scott Linehan has been the Head Coach of the St. Louis Rams for less than one week. The season is nine months away.

For Ram fans, it should be a time for optimism, hope, speculation, evaluation, analysis and even a pipe dream or two.

But for some Rams, its just another day of complaining.

"Linehan is an offensive coach... we need a defensive minded head coach."

    "Linehan doesn't have enough experience..."

"See, I told you, he's going to get an inferior defensive coordinator!"

"Why didn't anyone else want him if he's so great."

"He won't be able to make the transition from coordinator to Head Coach."

"He shouldn't be calling his own plays!"

"He wants WHO to be his offensive coordinator?"

    "Nothing changes. Same old sorry..."

On various boards, from various posters, I've seen comments like all of those. So, let me restate the obvious:

LINEHAN HASN'T EVEN BEEN HEAD COACH FOR ONE WEEK!!!

I think some Ram fans just like complaining. Either that, or they think there is some virtue in being the first on the block to predict doom.

I could give countless examples of coaches who were brought in as saviors, and ended up being duds, or who were brought in as nobodys, and ended up being great coaches (after all, there must have been a time when Dolphin fans said "who the heck is this Shula guy?").

    But why bother.

Some people just aren't happy unless they have something to complain about.

That's it right there, it's the "I TOLD YOU SO" syndrome if their doom prediction comes true.

As always, the views on this board are nothing more or less than a microcosm of our society. Some people see the glass half full, some half empty. To many people, the grass is always greener and many are only truly happy when they are complaining. Life is full of people who criticize but dont offer real world solutions to problems.

It's a lot easier to be negative rather than positive and it requires a lot less thought.

Thumbs down Re: Linehan Hiring Aftermath Proves That Some Ram Fans Are Never Happy

I'm happy the Rams haven't brought in any of the old retreads (same old head coaches, different city). While Miami's offense did improve under his direction, whether that was because of their new rookie running phenom and Ricky coming back, or Linehan's offensive schemes is yet to be seen. But....the guy certainly has good credentials and the bread in the pudding will be who he hires as his staff. I like what the Redskins are doing, investing money in quality coaching. I hope the Ram front office is willing to do the same to draw some good football minds to this franchise.
