Linehan worst coach in the league ...

    http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm

Every team has played at least eight games. Thus, the time has come to hand out a little midseason hardware.

Our awards are unscientific and subjective. There was no panel, no votes cast. Our decisions are as final as they are impulsive.

    Here we go.

    First, the offensive awards.

Best offensive player: Tom Brady, Patriots.

    Best quarterback: Brady.

Best running back: Adrian Peterson, Vikings.

Best tight end: Dallas Clark, Colts.

    Best receiver: Randy Moss, Patriots.

    Best offensive line: The Patriots.

Breakout player on offense: Braylon Edwards, Browns.

Best offensive rookie: Adrian Peterson, Vikings.

Offensive comeback player of the year: Moss.

Most underrated player: David Diehl, Giants.

    Quarterback bust: Tarvaris Jackson, Vikings.

Running back bust: Larry Johnson, Chiefs.

    Receiver bust: Chad Johnson, Bengals.

Tight end bust: Alge Crumpler, Falcons.

Offensive lineman bust: Winston Justice, Eagles.

    Now, for the defense.

Best defensive player: Jared Allen, Chiefs.

    Best defensive lineman: Allen.

    Best linebacker: Mike Vrabel, Patriots.

Best defensive back: Asante Samuel, Patriots.

Breakout player on defense: Albert Haynesworth, Titans.

Best defensive rookie: Patrick Willis, *****.

Defensive comeback player of the year: Andre Carter, Redskins.

Most underrated player: Aaron Kampman, Packers.

Defensive line bust: Simeon Rice, Broncos.

    Linebacker bust: Joey Porter, Dolphins.

Defensive back bust: Jason David, Saints.

    Now, the specials teams.

    Best punter: Andy Lee, *****.

    Best kicker: Rob Bironas, Titans.

Best punt returner: Devin Hester, Bears.

Best kick returner: Devin Hester, Bears.

    And the miscellaneous crap.

    Best coach: Mike Tomlin, Steelers.

    Worst coach: Scott Linehan, Rams.

    Best G.M.: Scott Pioli, Patriots.

    Worst G.M.: Rich McKay, Falcons.

Best trade: Pats getting Randy Moss for a fourth-round draft pick.

Worst trade: Falcons giving up Matt Schaub.

Best free-agent acquisition: Jeff Garcia, Buccaneers.

Worst free-agent acquisition: Joey Porter, Dolphins.

Best veteran contract: Dwight Freeney, Colts.

Worst veteran contract: Tony Romo, Cowboys.

Best rookie contract: Darrelle Revis, Jets.

Worst rookie contract: Gaines Adams, Buccaneers.

Well aren't they brown-nosing the Pats a little.

Best offensive player is certainly Adrian Peterson. He is the one breaking the tackles, and doing everything by himself(ok, his line is good). Brady only throws straight ahead and almost kills his receivers sometimes, misses open throws, and has all day to do it as well. He is in the best offense, but is not the best player. That's why he's not the MVP either.

Defensive player is Bob Sanders, who is everything to Indy's defense. I don't think I've heard Samuel's name come up in half the Pats games I've watched. Hell, I'd put Sanders' name up for MVP before Brady. The other one I could give it to is Osi Umenyoria or however that's spelled for the Giants. He's constantly near the QB, and had those 6 sacks on McNabb.

    Donnie Jones is better punter.

How about Spoon for MLB(they really need to break these up)?

Hanesworth was always a good DT, he's not a breakout player. He just made a name for himself with the stomp, and people actually watch him now. Osi is the true breakout guy.

My last issue is with the contracts. How are they the best or worst? Freeney is crazy expensive and hasn't done a whole ton. And how is Romo's the worst? He's earned it hasn't he? He had that horrid game against the Bills, but he came back to win it didn't he? Defense can only get you so far in a comeback.

And how can you rate the rookie contracts? Especially when it's just first rounders? How about Ryan, who is playing awesomely and wasn't even on the first day! How about both 1st round QB contracts because they haven't played a snap yet!

As for Linehan... there is a pretty good reasoning for that. I guess you could put the Mangenius up there as well, or maybe Brad Childress for thinking Tavaris Jackson was ready and for not giving AD the bal every play.

I wonder who he'll thank when he goes up to accept the award...

I'm thinking that they're probably referring to contract structure...like if the guy is a bust, the team won't get killed in the salary cap- but that's just my guess.

Brady is as Good as his Offensive line, put him behind the Rams line and lets see if he can do the same? I seriously doubt it.

I think Jason Witten is better than D.Clark.
