Linehan's Fault
... I don't think so. Two reasons we lost:
1. Frerotte's terrible inaccuracy
2. Worst officiating in NFL history
Linehan took over the playcalling, we got 31 points and 375 yards while minimizing pressure on the QB. Defense was alive all day, Witherspoon was AWESOME ...
How about Fakhir?
Leonard did well, but can't expect him to carry it 35 times. It's nice and dandy he gets 5.7 YPC, but if you start running every play, the holes would close ...
This game is NOT on Linehan, I don't care what anyone says, and I'll argue that point FURIOUSLY!

Re: Linehan's Fault
The score is 20-20. Its the end of the third quarter. Rams have the ball near FG range. The running game is working.
I'd keep running the ball.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Linehan's Fault
I'm not laying this one on Linehan this time. I think the question I keep asking myself is should we take a chance and keep Linehan for another year, or should we just let him go bring in a coach with some serious credentials I.E. Marty, or Cowher. If we chance a 3rd year with Liniehan and Marty and Cowher take jobs next year and the Rams struggle next year too. Is that a risk you are willing to take? I would rather struggle bringing in a new system under a very good head coach rather than struggle with the same system now and then be looking for a coach after next year when the good ones are available now. Is it worth it???
Just Fix It

Re: Linehan's Fault
If not for the int's and the playcalling we would of won this one easily.

Re: Linehan's Fault
I'm not a big Shottenheimer fan, but if Cowher, John Fox, or some other coach with a track record is available, I see no reason whatsoever to stick with Linehan another year.

Re: Linehan's Fault
The main thing I would have done different today was using Leonard more. Frerotte threw 43 passes and Leonard rushed only 18 times but got 102 yards, he was effective enough to feed him the ball more. The game was also close for at least 90% of the time (the exception being some part of the 4th quarter, when we were down by 11), so why not run it more? Other than that our offense showed signs of life with Frerotte in there instead of a banged-up Bulger, I think we (finally!) made the right call there, whether Bulger is ready to go next week or not, who knows, but if we have to play Frerotte again we know he can move the ball and score. We are improving, but the schedule doesn't look good either, this was a year where we needed a fast start to have a shot at the playoffs and we totally blew it. 0-5, sigh.

Re: Linehan's Fault
Was it Linehan's fault that Frerotte threw the INT to Hood? That's one of the worst passes I've seen in my life. However, if this ship keeps sinking under Linehan and we go 4-12 or worse, it's time for a new coach.

Re: Linehan's Fault
I'd like someone to break down for me, in detail, how this loss is on Linehan and his offensive scheme.
If you can do that, then by all means vent away.
If you can't then be willing to accept that when a quarterback throws three interceptions you will ordinarily lose that game.
Simple.

Marty ball took a loser in SD and rebuilt them 14-2. Now HC Linehan is so bad you would keep him?I'm not a big Shottenheimer fan, but if Cowher, John Fox, or some other coach with a track record is available, I see no reason whatsoever to stick with Linehan another year.

Re: Linehan's Fault
Stop with the "refs" card, we have no business allowing 34 pts to the cards. It was a "team" loss.

Re: Linehan's Fault
providing Linehan doesn't get this turned around and the Rams FO decides to make a change I would call Bill Cowher and I would give him a blank check and let him fill it in to coach this team,I watched him today on a pre game show and he even has that intense look doing that, this team could use his intensity.

Re: Linehan's Fault
A lot of Pittsburgh fans weren't very happy with Cowher.
I'm sort of down the middle with Linehan, I liked a lot of the playcalling today but I hated it the past couple of weeks...I also like it when a person shows passion and all that, (Linehan constantly yelling at the refs).Last edited by Milan; -10-07-2007 at 11:59 PM.
