    Linny in the hot seat?

In the St. Louis Dispatch the other day, some of the writers were making predictions for the upcoming Rams season. Some had the Rams at 3-13, all the way to 5-11. If the team starts the season 0-4to 1-3 as some of the critics have predicted does Linehan loose his job over the bye week or does he remain on board? If he is let go who is out there and available as a better option?

Well, Avenger Ram hasn't made me a full member of SLOP yet, but I think a chimpanzee could coach better than him. If the Rams are winless at the bye, Saunders should get the nod.

Personally, I would like to see Linehan gone at the end of the year with Cowher taking the job for next year.

Unless the stadium is completely devoid of fans, I don't see them canning him midseason. If he survived the bad coaching of the past two seasons, he'll survive another one. If he does go, I just want to see Haslett go with him.

I really can't imagine that any team would ditch their coach after four games. Linehan should finish out the season as the head coach. If for no other reason, treating your current head coach poorly does not help you lure other candidates to replace him. Love him or hate him, he is our coach this season.

If he is fired, Cowher/Schottenheimer should be the first two contacted. If the Rams are smart, they will realize that a rookie head coach does not always pan out and they should go after someone proven.

I would be surprised if Linehan was fired before the season's end, let alone four games into it. Why even bring a guy back for a third year if his leash is a mere four games?

i dont think it would be fair to get rid of Linny if we lost the first few games of the season because its a tough run in

Agreed. Especially if he's coming from the college ranks. We all saw what happend with Bobby Petrino.

Yeah, it's a hard opening schedule, and we're not out of the playoffs even if we do go 0-4, which we won't. Linehan is here though the new year at least.

If we stay healthy and and enter the bye with a 1-3 or 0-4 record, he should be booted. Healthy, i think we're good enough to beat the Eagles and the Giants. 3-1 OR 2-2 At the bye then he's safe. After last season, his leash is really short.

Barring a Rudyesque team upheaval, Scott Linehan will coach 16 games this year. And next year someone will pick him up as an Offensive Coordinator.

Bad coaching of the past 2 seasons?

Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we go from (6-10) to (8-8) under Linehan in his 1st season as headcoach?

Re: Linny in the hot seat?

I hate Linehan, but I have re-thought what I posted earlier. You guys are absolutely right. Linehan should get to coach the entire season. It's only fair, and as a couple of you have pointed out, we have a tough schedule to open the season.

If Linehan does get fired at seasons end, I hope to God we don't hire "I can't win in the playoffs" Schottenheimer. But I'm getting ahead of myself...GO RAMS!!!
