Hall 96
Wroten 99
By selecting a # in the 70s, he'll stand out more to announcers and stat guys. Maybe get a little more notice for that occasional tackle or half-sack.
Just a thought.

All 90's then 72 makes him extra special and original an all 90 line would have been kind of cool also

Re: Long Now #72
i thought LONG should have #85 . The only RAM that should have this number is BIG JACK YOUNGBLOOD , but i think he would love to see LONG bouncing around with that # on , just rockin people up every sunday . And #72 is a little closer to his dads number and even though he didn't want to compaired to HOWIE , he still wants to be like him in some way for people to remember . So pick #2 , will stand out with all the #90 's , he will be in the 70's with his dad , and have his own identity . SMART KID , GOOD MOVE , GLAD WE TOOK A SOLID CORNERSTONE .

Re: Long Now #72
I just got off the phone with Bernie, and he reports that according to his sources at Rams' Park, it appears that the number 72 is generating significantly more "man love" than the number 98.

I personally would've liked to see him in 92 or 93. But that's just me.
Secondly, if your theory of why he chose 72 is true, it certainly wouldn't endear him to those of us who believe we win as a team and we lose as a team.
And I can imagine the discord in the locker room among his veteran teammates who won't make his signing bonus in their entire careers. So on that note, here's a memo to Chris, do not try to stand out, just fit in.

I wish he would have stuck with that number 1 jersey. I liked that one.

"Imagine" being the operative word.
In other news, Vernon Gholston has just turned gaterade into wine at the Jets minicamp.

Not sure if that's a good thing or not. The last thing I would think they needed, was a bunch of drunks trying to make a tackle.

I, for one, would hope Long "stands out" because that to me would signify that he was worthy of the high draft pick.
I hope he gets along in all aspects with his team mates but having his star shine a little brighter might encourage some extra effort from his cohorts?
Camaraderie never hurts in football, the ultimate of team sports.
As far as what might be unequal compensation the players have to realize there is only a limited amount of funds available and the "new" players seemingly always get an unfair percentage of it, but this is not a new development and won't be cured in the near future.

Not talking about his performance on the field, obviously I'd love for him and every other Ram to perform exceptionally well on the football field. My comments were meant to apply only to his attitude off the field and in the locker room.
