But we have two new Linebackers .. Like Marmie says -
it's all good.
We were just trying to fool the entire NFL (we are really a Defensive Powerhouse).

Did we face any less last year?

We faced this with LESS of a run stopping presence than we have now, and still managed to survive into the 2nd round of the playoffs."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Let's take a look at the list once more. This time removing the RB's from one-dimensional teams with weak passing games. This would allow us to focus on the run.
Shaun Alexander: 2x's
Edgerin James
Deauce McAllister
Dominick Davis
Brian Westbrook
List doesn't seem to scary now does it?

Our Rams D may not end the season among the top seven in the NFL but I'm confident there will be a specific, measurable improvement from last year's performance, particularly against the run.The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. --FDR
ZigZag, HUbison, duly noted. We were there against these RBs last year already. I trust our LBs will play better this season. And it's high time the DL steps up too.

Re: Look what running backs we face this year: This is going to be a long year
At this point, I gotta agree with with Ramsfan16. I've withstood all this hype about the new tough D, and now I see a lot of soul searching going on.
In fact, I'm expecting an apology from Hub. :-)
And, maybe one from Kennedy, and Lewis, and Pickett.
Yes, it's only preseason, but all of us expected a little better than what we got last time. And for a team that knows it sucked on Run D, and seeking to improve their ability, they did not show much.
And, who says you got to be a stud RB to run against the Rams?
Why I bet I could hand the ball off to Tx, and he could gain 10.

Coy, if at the end of the season, our run D is no better than it was last year....you'll get your apology. However, I'm quite confident that is one apology that will never need to be made.In fact, I'm expecting an apology from Hub. :-)"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

We faced Shaun Alexander three times, I think we won all three games.

Ya. But we also had to come back and beat them first time we played them and got lucky in the playoffs. If the WR wouldn't have dropped it we would have lost.

Re: Look what running backs we face this year: This is going to be a long year
Against the Saints last year, Aaron Stecker helped do us in (with some coaching sabotage by Martz). Still, our D started to perform decent by the end of the season until Atlanta ripped us a new one. Hopefully, they will get their act together.
Did you like the Rams wearing home uniforms at an away game? The theory is that the darker uniforms will absorb more radiant heat from the sun and cause more thermal stress on the players. That is what I think I will blame the San Diego game on....lol[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Look what running backs we face this year: This is going to be a long year
It don’t matter who the back is our problem has not been the elusiveness or quickness of the backs its been our defense letting them run it right down the center of the field. I think we have more talent then what we have displayed and I hope Marmie uses it wisely.
With our secondary I am not sure we would want to face a good passing team in place of a good running team as an opponent. We have 2 new starting DBs and a questionable Arch (Health/Holdup). We could post this same thing about receivers we have to face this year.

IF the biggest two letter word in the dictionary.
Why are some of you obsessed with finding a dark cloud in a clear sky.
Yes, the Rams D struggled last year and they will probaly struggle at times this year.
My hope is that the Offense is ready to go and we put up points early and ofter so the Rams D will not need to be tested......
