Looks like Rams will hold training camp in St. Louis area
By Jim Thomas
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
All signs point to the Rams staying close to home for training camp this summer. Sources told the Post-Dispatch that Concordia University Wisconsin officials were told by the Rams last week that the team will not train this summer at the campus in Mequon, Wis. Instead, the team plans to train somewhere “in the St. Louis area” this summer.
The Rams trained at Concordia last summer.

Man, I know you had worked on getting a repeat showing from the team. Sorry that didn't work out.

I think this has to do with getting tougher. Let's face it, the summer humidity in STL is just a tad bit more than in Wisconsin....

don't be a big baby the humidity here is fine you just have to plan around it and DEAL with it. Have you seen the movie Invincible? Its the greatest football movie ever made. That's what this about, getting back to the gritty honest hard work. They'll be a better team for it, none of that playing in sand boxes in garbage they tried last year.

Does anyone know if camp would be open to the public, unlike the secret Loserhan days? I may escort mom's to Des Moines then drop down to O'l St Louis for a few days...

Re: Looks like Rams will hold training camp in St. Louis area
Yes, but at the same time, the health regulations the NFL has instituted post-Korey Stringer (remember him folks?) more or less limit what a team can do in high heat-index conditions, which pretty much is every day in St. Louis during July and August.
Also bear in mind that Invincible is 1) a movie, and 2) set in the mid-70s. The game has changed, which is what Vermeil learned during his 90s training camps (note that he backed off on the work before 1999)
Becoming "tougher" due to oppressive heat is sort of fine, but I'd rather the Rams be in a position to maximize the time they spend running drills and practicing plays, especially with a new coaching staff. You can do that quite fine in the weather of Mequon.
Also...remember the Rams play in a nice climate-controlled domed stadium, which sort of defeats the purpose of becoming acclimated to St. Louis' peculiar summer weather.

Re: Looks like Rams will hold training camp in St. Louis area
I think there's a good argument for both home and away camp.
Suffer through the misery together and promote fan interest at home, etc.
The idea of getting the players away from home & bunking up together also promotes unity.
The dumb thing about Mequon, imo, was the artificial fields they had. Can't say that it was directly related to any injuries but I can't believe it helped.
I know the common wisdom was that The GSOT wouldn't have been as "G" without field turf but AZ seemed to have a pretty decent pass attack & don't they have one of those fancy roll-away bed real grass fields?
