Lost in all the Euphoria
(which I share in), is the fact that the Rams only had 2 penalties for 17 yards.
On the road. I don't know what for, but given the odd amount, 1 had to be PI, right?
Also, (and I get the hindsight thing), wouldn't it be nice if the Rams would have kept DX and dumped/not signed Smith? DAMN!
Switching subjects, I was wondering yesterday why Richardson never got/gets a shot at kick-off/punt returns?
I watch the games on Sunday with a buddy, who's a Vikes fan. We had this game circled, (but not really, if you know what I mean), at the start of the year. Now it's meaningful for both of us.
Cool, huh?

Re: Lost in all the Euphoria
Yeah the penalties were what had been killing the team all season. Glad to see they didn't make any really dumb mistakes yesterday. If I remember correctly, one was an unnecessary roughness on Finnegan (15yards) and the second was a hold on Janoris Jenkins during the punt that pinned the Rams at their 4. Half the distance to the goal for 2 yards gives you 17.

Re: Lost in all the Euphoria
Considering that during the broadcast we were leading the NFL in penalties, I'd say that's really good!
That's the one fact of our game that frustrates me the most, since discipline can prevent a lot of those. It would have won us the first SF game, that's for sure.

Re: Lost in all the Euphoria
I don't want to talk about what could have been with guys like Alexander, Avery and Robinson. They simply were never healthy enough to contribute effectively at the time they were released, and the time they spent on the street allowed them to heal and come back. Even still, only Alexander has the skill set to deserve a place on this team, I think Robinson and Avery only emulate guys we have like Gibson.
Gibson, of course, has more TDs than Avery and Robinson and the same as Alexander, despite effectively not playing for 3 to 4 weeks.

Re: Lost in all the Euphoria
That is a great stat.
Interesting that the Bills were also only flagged twice. Definitely a "let them play" officiating crew.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Lost in all the Euphoria
yep, refs let them play, however, there didn't seem to be any penalties not called and were pretty consistent both ways

Re: Lost in all the Euphoria
Good observation, indeed. I noticed that in the box score as well- and as one who decried the large number of penalties we were receiving on a weekly basis, this is a refreshing change.

Re: Lost in all the Euphoria
Usually been among the most penalized teams in the NFL or the most. Here's some stats on that:
Bernie Bytes: Are Fisher's teams dirty? : Stltoday
From 2001-2010, the Titans led the NFL in most personal foul penalties with 163. The second-highest teams on the list for most PFs were the NY Giants and Arizona Cardinals, with 137.Here's the breakdown ...
* The Titans led the NFL in unnecessary roughness penalties, 67.
* The Titans led the NFL in roughing the passer penalties, 46.
* The Titans were fifth in other variations of personal fouls (32) and sixth in unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (18.)

Re: Lost in all the Euphoria
I usually cringe when Sam does his cadence.....waiting for the dreaded false start......nice to not see that finally and the crowd was loud. I do not recall last time the Rams did not have a false start called. seems like years.
