Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

I realize there is probably a significant number of clanmembers that don't play Madden but for those of you who do, here is a list of some Rams rankings for the August 12th release. Even for non-madden players it is interesting to see how our players are rated from 1-100 on a meaningless scale. None of these rankings are official and could change before the release, however.

QB Marc Bulger 89
QB Trent Green 81

HB Steven Jackson 97
HB Antonio Pittman 77

FB Brian Leonard 83
FB Richard Owens 72

WR Torry Holt 94
WR Drew Bennett 82
WR Donnie Avery 76

TE Randy McMichael 84
TE Anthony Becht 77
TE Joe Klopfenstein 75

LT Orlando Pace 93
LT Adam Goldberg 77

LG Jacob Bell 94

C Brett Romberg 79
C Mark Setterstrom 77

RG Richie Incognito 81
RG Nick Leckey 75

RT Alex Barron 85
RT Joe Greco 76

LE Leonard Little 87
LE Victor Adeyanju 76

RE Chris Long 84
RE James Hall 82
RE Eric Moore 72

DT La'Roi Glover 84
DT Adam Carriker 89
DT Clifton Ryan 76

LOLB Chris Draft 79
LOLB Quentin Culberson 72

MLB Will Witherspoon 92
MLB Tim McGarigle 68

ROLB Pisa Tiniosomoa 85

CB Fakhir Brown 87
CB Tye Hill 86
CB Ron Bartell 77

FS O.J. Atogwe 90
FS Jerome Carter 73

SS Corey Chavous 82
SS Todd Johnson 75

As you can see, a few pleasant surprises.. (Jacob Bell, OJ Atogwe, ...)

Re: Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

I've played my fair share of football related video games over the years and looking at your list, it occurs to me that "90's" are probably a little too common. Holt at 94? SJ at 97? Pretty darned lofty. 2007 Tom Brady, 1984 Dan Marino, various Eric Dickerson, Bo Jackson...those are some high 90 players. Getting a 90 should be pretty special and rare if 100 is the top of the scale.

Re: Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

I'd say Steven Jackson deserves his status as an elite HB. Holt as well. I agree about some other ones being a bit too high, though.

Re: Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

In my personal opinion, a few of our players are a tad bit high. Jackson and Bell are just two to mention.

Re: Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

I agree, most of the rankings are a little generous, but after getting screwed by EA the past, I don't know five years, I'm not complaining. It does seem like the team is finally beginning to get a little love.
@mokleram I would have to disagree and say that both Holt and Jackson are underrated. Their scores being short of 99 (the highest they go in Madden) implies that they are no longer viewed as elite players. I can see someone making that argument for Holt, but now way with Jackson, not even with the tough season. Just my thoughts.

Re: Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

Didn't Hester become the first ever madden player to get a 100 in any category, I think it was speed. Madden has always had 99 as the best, but changed it last year.

Still, my favorite rating in Madden 09 has got to be this:

Matt Leinart has an 85...
and Kurt Warner (listed as the backup) has... an 86

I've been playing Madden 07 for the gamecube for a while, I may update sometime if I feel like it, and I find money wired in to my bank account.

Re: Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

I also thought Bell was rated a bit high. He certainly didn't garner the same attention that Faneca did this free agency. I also think Hill is rated a tad high.

Meh, they all become 99s anyway.

I guess my perception of what these scores should be are based on intangibles. Holt, as impressive as his numbers are, isn't a consistent gamebreaker or threat. I would probably give him a 90 because he's more than a "B" receiver but not "A" or "A+".

Jackson at 97 is just ludicrous to me. A RB who's played 16 games just once in four years, one really good season and two average years out of three as a starter and a 4.2 ypa average is not "97" material. Throw in 12 fumbles and it doesn't really add up. Jackson is very talented and will improve as the rest of the offense improves but I think it's fair to look at what there is to look at. So far, Jackson's '06 season is the exception, not the rule.

Leinart at 85 is laughable. Or is this game Madden NCAA '09? I wonder if they too would have given Ryan Leaf a mid 80 score based on his college pedigree? Leinart, like many young QB's had a nice start but if you look at the majority of his "career", all but one game since his first 3 starts is pretty pedestrian. He's been given the starter's job twice and had season ending injuries twice and has never thrown 3 td's in a game in the NFL. 85? Really?

Re: Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

p.s. Just thought Rams fans might really enjoy the fact that Brady got a "99" on throwing power and "100" on awareness.

Apparently, Brady doesn't make any mistakes. 100 means perfect, right?

Throwing Power:
Jamarcus Russell-98
Carson Palmer-97
Joe Flacco-97
Peyton Manning-96
Derek Anderson-96
Rex Grossman-95(!!!)
Ben Roethlisberger-95
Donovan McNabb-95
Jason Campbell-93
David Garrard-93
Eli Manning-93
Vince Young-93
Kerry Collins-92
Tony Romo-90
Marc Bulger-90
Drew Brees-90
Matt Hasslebeck-88
Kurt Warner-88(!)
Jake Delhomme-88
Philip Rivers-87(?)
Jeff Garcia-87
Chad Pennington-82

Tom Brady now has the strongest arm in the league!

Re: Madden 09 Rams Player Ratings

Those stats are more based on the stats rather than the actual players. Brady has a good arm, but it's nowhere near the strongest in the league. I am glad to see they gave Russell a high rating, because that dude really does have a cannon on him!
