it makes me cringe when i hear these names
After a good victory in which we won by a large margin and after a season where its obvious we can finally compete it just makes me cringe hearing these names of the past. Add some if you would like
Ty hill Joe klopfenstein travis fisher chris claiborn tommy polly jamie duncan jimmy kennedy Alex barron drew bennett dominique byrd jonathon wade randy mcmichael.
Im just appreciative of the talent we have out there now

Brian Leonard, Adam Carriker, Adam Archeleta, that DL Rotten guy, more LBs than I can count.......
By the way, we've got the first stud MLB that we've had in how many years?Last edited by live4ramin; -09-28-2010 at 06:59 PM.

I think if Linehan didn't have that unusual fetish over tight-ends, we would have had decent drafts during those periods.
Last time we had a stud LB was 12 years ago with London Fletcher, and he was undrafted. J-Lau has the IQ, physicality, and hard work to succeed Fletcher's throne.

Re: it makes me cringe when i hear these names
I cringe when I think about how we had THREE, THREE, first round draft picks in 2001, when the St. Louis Rams were in their prime. We should have built a dynasty with that draft, instead, Adam Archuleta, Ryan Pickett, and Damione Lewis.
But hey, enough of these past failures, the future is bright, and it starts with Sam Bradford!

Re: it makes me cringe when i hear these names
before we criticise the past regimes for some failures in the draft, we should also recognise that it was during Mike Martz's tenure that the team drafted the best player we have, Steven Jackson
it was also during Linehan's time as HC that the team picked our best defensive back, OJ Atogwe
I'm all for criticising the poor drafts we had in the past, but lets also recognise that we got some good players out of them too

Let not forget about the great MLB Robert Thomas we drafted in 02.

Re: it makes me cringe when i hear these names
OJ Otogwe and Ron Bartell were both great picks by past regimes, I'll give ya that.
However Brian Leonard and Joe Flopenstein were pretty terrible picks by that exact same regime. Throw enough darts and you get lucky every once in awhile.
And if we wouldn't have drafted Jackson, I'm not sure what I would have done, but it wouldn't have been pretty.

Yes, we have made some good picks....but most have been terrible.
Is there anyone here that wasn't scratching their head when Trung Canidate was drafted?
I wonder where Jamie Duncan works these days?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I just can't help buy wonder though... how much of this is to be blamed on player development? Some of these guys had a ton of talent, the former staff has got to be to blame, at least some, for poor player development.
But this year, I am seeing IMPROVEMENT from players on this team. I think player development is no longer an issue, thank goodness!

I cringe when I think that my team, the ____________, picked up _________. That guy was a total waste.
Fill in the first blank with any of the 32 teams.
Fill in the second blank with most selections of the first blank."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod
