Bulger did care, you don't have to shout and scream to show you care.

    Re: Marc Bulger?

Bulger became gun-shy quickly. His O-Line was awful but in one sense that's no excuse. He had the tail-end, and a very talented one to be sure, of the GSOT and he still couldn't deliver. However, once he became gun-shy he was done, even if he had the original GSOT team surrounding him.. We all knew Kurt Warner and Marc Bulger was no Kurt Warner, regardless of the O-Line. His performance or lack thereof after he left the Rams is a good case study about becoming gun-shy. He is a nice fellow and a great (scratch or sub-scratch) golfer, so maybe he missed his calling. In any event he ate up lots of cap space, just as our present QB is doing and hopefully will not cost us as dearly as Marc Bulger did. It's hard to feel sorry for someone making the money that Bulger made, so my opinion is biased. I just hope we're not going to 'see de ja vu all over again.'

    There you go, mike.

You wasted the entire pregame up in the rafters thinking you were getting a free jersey (stupid)

As it turns out, Nick had one all along!

    Re: Marc Bulger?

Marc Bulger's time as a Ram can be divided into two separate segments. The first several years he demonstrated he was a good QB who was both accurate and productive. The last three he was below average, hampered by a poor supporting cast and affected by too many hits. This is unfortunately what sticks in the mind of many fans when judging Marc Bulger as a whole. His overall statistical body of work suggests he had a pretty good NFL career, but he was not an elite QB by any means, even when he was at his best.

With that said, Bulger appeared to be an up and coming star in the same system that benefitted Kurt Warner, and it is beyond disingenouous to second guess the Rams for unloading Kurt at the time. He was absolutely awful in 2002 (3 TD's, 14 picks) and in fact appeared done. His thumb injury was worrisome enough that the vast majority of people both in and around the game of football thought he'd never be the same QB again. And he too, started to absorb his share of hits. It took him a full 5 seasons to regain the form he showed in the GSOT glory days. No one could say they saw it coming.

I've followed the Rams since I was 5 years old. I've seen some horrendous QB's- Jeff Kemp, Steve Dils, Dieter Brock, Chris Miller, Tony Banks, and on and on. Marc Bulger was head and shoulders above all of them. But he was not an elite player. Not even close to Jim Everett, for instance, in terms of ability and overall sustained productivity. History will judge Marc Bulger as a mixed bag- and rightly so.

    Re: Marc Bulger?

I agree NJ, and I think it's suprising that some people are so negative towards how Bulger played when we saw what someone like Kyle Boller did playing for the same team.

I don't think anyone ever tried to insinuate that Bulger was an elite QB. But he certainly wasn't a terrible one
