Marshall Faulk breaks down the Rams on NFL Network
Listening to Total Access via Sirius Radio, and here are some of the points Marshall touched upon. These are general notes that I was typing as I listened, so no exact quotes.
Holt & Bruce: Isaac can still get the job done, but when you sign Bennett the question has to be is he the future. As long as Isaac can perform and run routes he and Torry will be 1a and 1b.
Linehan's blueprint: Wants to run balanced offense, wants to be efficient & minimize turnovers. Play sound defense and not turn the ball over, then you can win in the NFL.
Defense: Poor tackling. When you can't tackle, it's tough to win. There are basic plays in this league that you have to stop, everyone has a gap. Secondary has to make tackles. Cannot allow a team or any other team to run power at you.
Team needs: ALL DEFENSE. Start with DT. Need to get DT that can stuff run. Thinks Witherspoon needs to move back to WILL and the Rams need a true MLB. Also need a safety that can play half or a third in deep coverage as well as come up and support the run.
Potential GM position: Would relish opportunity to work in any front office.
I believe Linehan is coming up on the program soon as well, for those interested and capable of watching.

Linehan's comments...
Identity of team: Consistency of play has to continue to improve, highs and lows happen to everyone but have to be consistent to avoid the big valley they experienced last year
Holt, Bruce, Bennett: Can't have enough good players. Already have two proven All Pros who have played at consistent level. Feels there will be times when all three will be effective in the offense.
Defense: Tackling can improve, cites Indy in playoffs as an example of making adjustments and improving play to improve the unit
NFL Draft: Don't want to back yourself into a corner and focus on certain position, but would like to help defensive front (either interior player or edge rusher) in the first day. Doesn't want to pigeon hole himself into saying they need a certain position even though that could be the way they end up going.

THIS ISN'T CANADA , you can't just write off a 5-6 year contract and replace someone without disturbing the whole team . your probably thinking of the ST. LOUIS BLUES hockey team. but it was an honest mistake.

He also said that there isn't one person on our defense that a DC says we have to stop. That's true, outside of Little. If our secondary is forced to tackle again.....we are in big trouble.

Re: Marshall Faulk breaks down the Rams on NFL Network
Defensively this team needs to improve in overall gap coverage and tackling at the point of first sight. The Offensive Unit is in good shape. But we can add youth through the draft for next year.
The Special teams were decent but they need help as well.
Back to Defense. MLB is a huge concern and Will is not the answer longterm.
We need to draft and work with the free agency.
Overall Linehan has huge holes to plug on defense to compliment existing veterans and really focus on the division title.THE FIELD GOAL

Who? The Marshall that was being paid by the Rams last season but was the invisible man all year on the sidelines. Oh yeah, he was learning about the NFL Network and filling in for them. That Marshall Faulk.:x
Don't get me wrong. I love the guy but the whole Rams avoidance thing still irks me.
