    From Martz' desk 08/09

    From the Coach's Desk

Dane Looker is on this team; I don't know what the talk is about Looker not
making the team. He is not fighting for a position on the team, he has that.
He's an integral part of this team.

I do know that Matt Willig jumped right in today and I was very impressed
with his willingness to pick things up. Under the circumstances, I thought
    he did an excellent job.

Adam Timmerman surprised me by practicing in pads today. We are starting to
get a little cohesiveness in the offensive line.

Rex Tucker is getting better and better at right tackle every day.

My biggest concern has been the offensive line. Not having Big O is an issue
obviously, but he should be back in short order.

The rest of it seems to be falling in line pretty well. I am pleased with
their effort and what's going on. We are very thin on the offensive line.
I am very pleased with our rookie Claude Terrell. I think the first group is
getting better and better. Rex Tucker is worth getting excited about.

Arlen Harris is our number three back right now. Aveion Cason has a chance
to make this team in a variety of capacities, both as a running back and a
special teams player. He's going to have to be very effective in that
special teams area if he is going to make the team.

We released Dwight Anderson, because he violated some team policies pure and
simple. Those things you can't tolerate. He understood way before what the
consequences would be and yet felt compelled to do it anyway. There is just
zero tolerance on things like that. There's a trust factor here. When that's
betrayed, it's hard to get back.

Good to hear. Think we might carry six receivers this year? I'm all for Dante Ridgeway.

Rex Tucker is worth getting excited about? Ha! We shall see come gametime, but from all reports he's been struggling greatly lately.

Anderson broke curfew, which was at 12:00 instead of the the night before which was 1 a.m. He claimed that he thought it was still 1:00, but here's the clincher...

He showed up at 12:15, already 15 minutes late, found out that the curfew was 12, but went back out anyway. Probably getting 'crunk in da club.' I hope he had fun.

Of course, that is not the story according to his agent, who claims that he showed up what he thought was 15 minutes before curfew.

In context, he failed to get onto the field in time during practice and was apparantly standing on the sideline as isaac bruce was catching a pass wise open where anderson was supposed to be standing on the field.

Thus, i dont think its simply a curfew miss, there may well have been other historical issues with his focus and mental status. As crowded as it is back there, this type of thing is basically a non-starter.
