Re: Martz help move talks along??

You can defend him all you want to. But let me ask you this; Why can't anyone question or offer their thoughts, on his actions, without being attacked and berated? I wouldn't call questioning his methods, on speaking to the press, as flaming. I think the situations with parcells and the players named were totally different.

What is the difference of me not being able to do his job or him not being able to do my job? Only a few million dollars and the fact that he is in the spotlight. It comes with the territory for him.

If everyone in the NFL thrives in the media then I seriously doubt my opinion is going to mean squat, other than to some of you. Nothing was reported as to what Steven said to any other teammates. Martz' words, however, were reported. I am quite sure that Jackson is well aware that he has a lot of learning to do and if I recall correctly he even stated as much. Martz can defend Faulk all he wants, but I really don't see the point of doing so at the expense of the rookie. I mean its not his fault that Martz runs the most sophisticated offense in the league in a salary cap era where rookies often need to make contributions. If Holt can do it, then why not Jackson? And if Martz didn't think he could contribute then why the hell did he say otherwise in earlier reports?

I could care less if there are those who do not agree with me. I am damn sure not going to kiss anyones booty if they do agree with me nor will I be kissing anyones booty that I agree with. I am just going to speak my mind like everyone else does.

You have absolutely no idea whether or not Martz has talked to Jackson privately about this, yet you "question his methods" and say it should have been handled privately. You're quick to criticize Martz for taking it public when you know little about the situation itself. Did Martz in fact try to handle it publically? Was he advised to handle it publically? We don't know, yet here you are assuming.

Maybe if you weren't consistently jumping to conclusions about Martz and his methods -- what he has and hasn't tried in terms of talking to Jackson, what he did or didn't know at the end of the Carolina game -- people wouldn't be questioning your's. I don't mean that to be insulting or nasty, but it's an answer to your question.

Well in your latest post of Bachman's article "Comments on Comments" we discover that "The few times I had a chance to talk to him, he comes across as a stern guy," Jackson said of Martz. "I haven't really felt him out, and I don't think he's felt me out, either. Because the way he portrayed me in the paper and in the media . . . everyone who's gotten a chance to know me knows I'm not like that."

So as the history unfolds we get the impression that someone said something about someone and some aspiring investigative journalist asked sMartz for his comments and rather than being circumspect, sMartz says just enough to give the media something to distort and turn a non-issue into dollars per column inch.

I wonder what sMartz might say if someone asked him if he felt responsible for Ricky Williams retiring since he drafted the second coming of Williams??

sMartz ... " Well, it was just a matter of time before Ricky saw the writing on the wall. Ricky couldn't carry the dreadlocks load by himself. We knew that Jackson had all the skills ... plus he has those dreadlock things himself. Just as soon as Jackson learned to practice at the pro level, keep his dreadlocks clean, and deflect any marijuannna implications because of his hair style, we knew he would replace Williams as an attention grabber. It's better Ricky retired now before he realized that we were going to make Jackson more personable than Ricky. So there is no point in people in the media trying to start a controversy where none existed."

And then the buzz wore off ...

Re: Martz help move talks along??

As long as we are quoting remarks ;-)

This is from RACHEL BACHMAN article.

After Martz's outburst, Jackson encouraged his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, to get a deal done quickly. On Saturday, Jackson and his parents were watching TV in Arceneaux's office as he negotiated Jackson's contract by phone.

Re: Martz help move talks along??

Well you're right when you're right and you are when you bring it back to the point of whether sMartz "helped move the talks along." It certainly seems that the kid didn't want to be seen as a holdout.

But I'd counter that I'd bet that sMartz wasn't actually making a calculated statement to draw Jackson to the table. When you use the shotgun approach like sMartz did, something will always stick.

But regardless, it's good to see that the kid wants to get out there and let his actions speak for themselves ...

Re: Martz help move talks along??

If I was a betting man, I would think that Martz was told by the brass to say them comments. Shaw is a smart man and knows what is going to draw some of these kids to the table. My bet this is something that came from the front office.
