Re: Martz to San Diego??

Biggest attraction would be Don Coryell. Martz idolizes this guy and a chance to coach the same team as he did might be too much for Martz to pass on. But hey, its a rumor and I'll believe it when I see Martz at the Charger press conference.

uh, not that martz is definitely headed there, but if he does...
All good points. If this theory has Martz using the same scheme in San Diego though, I doubt Mike Williams is someone he'd pick. You mentioned Clayton, and I think he would be a better fit for Martz's offense, if not someone like Craphonso Thorpe of FSU. But the Chargers will probably have too high a pick to spend on either of them in the first round. Perhaps if they trade Brees as you suggested and gained a lower first round draft somehow.

Re: Martz to San Diego??

If this story is accurate or not, it’s going to grow legs and the soap opera for everyone involved may start soon. Just what we need, more distractions.

not necessarily, regarding mike williams, because martzs' offensive schemes and principles seem to be based on timing routes and motion to create mismatches, something very similar to what was used by norv turner and ernie zampese, who learned directly from d. coryell... if norv was able to thrive with a big tall slow wr like micheal irvin, then williams may be able to thrive in this scheme as well. on top of that williams will provide martz with something he's never had as an oc or hc, a tall strong wr who can outjump and out muscle for the ball in the redzone.

as far as brees go, i doubt he'll fetch a 1st rounder unless he wins more than 8 games this year...

as far as speculation and distractions go, we the fans do nothing but speculate and become distracted during the course of the season...so let's have some fun with it...

Re: Martz to San Diego??

Martz will not be coming to San Diego. The current owners of the Dolts could care less about fielding a winning team. This ownership is tighter with money than Georgia was back in the 80's. I would seriuosly doubt that Martz would be interested in rebuilding a team from the ground up.

rampete, I was speaking here in terms of possible distractions to the Rams, which I don't think is a good thing, especially now. As far as those of us here at Clanram, I agree, let's have some fun with it.

Didn't Faulk say he wanted to end his career as a slot receiver back home in San Diego?
