    Massey and Darby Re-Sign...

    Mar 18, 7:22 PM (ET)

ST. LOUIS (AP) -The St. Louis Rams have signed free agent long snapper Chris Massey and running back Kenneth Darby.
    The moves were announced Thursday.

Massey ended last season on injured reserve after undergoing knee surgery in October. A seventh-round pick in 2002, he's the last remaining player from that draft on the Rams' roster.

Darby, among the backups behind Steven Jackson last season, had 152 yards and a 5.6-yard average rushing. He also had 18 receptions and a 5.3-yard average.

I am very cool with this. Like Massey and Darby was no slouch, either.

Massey has long been one of the best long snappers in the league...i thought Ryan Neil stepped in and done a good job too,but Massey has proved himself faultless for so many years now you know that with him over the ball the snap is gonna be clean and Josh & Donnie have nothing to think about but where they gonna place their kicks.

Darby like Massey does the little things well..worth a roster spot ...atleast till someone better comes along..he wont win ya games but he wont lose ya games either.

Good. You're right, Ramblin', Massey is one of the best LS and takes excellent care of this aspect of the game for us. It is one of the very few areas where we won't have any worries, barring injury of course.

Darby, good blue-collar depth to the running department.

I'm glad Massey got signed. The guy is a leader for us.

Darby not being sarcastic is one of my favorite rams. Very happy he resigned.

for some reason I'm not a fan of Darby. His 5.3 yard/carry average is skewed because of that 53 yard fake punt snap he had with noone in sight and got caught from behind by a linebacker.
He's a decent depth guy but I'd rather see us have Jackson, Ogbo, and Best/Dwyer etc in the backfield. Now if we keep 4 runningbacks or have DArby earn his spot in training camp (like im sure him and everyone else will have to do) then im all for it.
I agree though, darby coming back is a decent move and Massey is a great move.

At least we didn't bring Samkon Gado back.

I have to agree, i'm not a big fan of Darby either. Actually liked the way Pittman played more than Darby. Seems like Darby would fall over if someone sneezed in his direction. Hopefully we find somone better than that to backup S-Jax.

I couldn't disagree more. I thought Gado was showing way more promise then Darby or Pittman before he got injured. The Rams really need to step it up and get a legitimate number two behind Jackson before they ride that horse into the ground.

    Re: Massey and Darby Re-Sign...

I like bringing Massey back. He's a solid LS who always puts the ball right where it needs to be. As for Darby, I think we need to bring in a more qualified back-up for Jaxx, such as Willie Parker.
