It may be easyer to sign Pickett NOW

with all these FA cuts and alot of DT talent hitting the market, plus the coming weeks don't you think that it may be easyer to get Pickett to sign long term and at a lower market value, this might work out great for the Rams!!!

thoughts???

Let's do it NOW! :angryram:

What complex cap circumstance would keep us from retaining Pickett right now?

Re: It may be easyer to sign Pickett NOW

The reason he might not want to sign longterm now is that uncapped year next year. I'm all for getting him signed, but if he thinks he can get huge value next year, his agent might be pushing for a one year deal.

buckner, adams, pryce, they all have one thing in common; their aging players on the decline in their careers while pickett is a rising star in this league.... i want the rams to sign pickett to a long-term deal but for some reason i dont think it will get done

Re: It may be easyer to sign Pickett NOW

goldenfleece is right...

pickett and his agent will push hard for a one year deal, whereas zyggie and shaw will push for a length one...pickett loses out if he capitulates to the will of the bean counters...

steve:clanram:
Agree, but think we should wait a little longer to ensure we get a deal that fully reflects his value.

There's also the possibility that the FO make a strong pitch for one of the bigger named DT's at Pickett's expense. Current situation may make them cheaper too.

Re: It may be easyer to sign Pickett NOW

I'm all for keeping Pickett. With the new DC our defense will improve around Pickett which will make him even more valuable.
