Maybe I am crazy, but does Mark Clayton remind anyone else of ...

    Isaac Bruce???

I mean it's kind of uncanny. The way he catches the ball, the pinpoint routes, the way he turns out of breaks, the way he runs ...

Mark Clayton could be the "poor man's" Isaac Bruce ...

Baltimore practically gave this guy away, and he looks absolutely legit to me. He's making BIG TIME catches every game. A serious playmaker ...

We need to lock him down ASAP.

I wish I can watch the games, in Afghanistan.. But from looking at the stats the last 3 games. I think we found our number 1 receiver!

Not crazy at all. Baltimore never had a QB that could or would throw to him. Boller was the QB most of his year and he was horrible. Clayton has had his problwms but ever since his days at OU he has been an amazing reciever.

He's one of the two receivers we needed and we should definitely lock him down, as suggested. We still need someone who'll stretch the field / have opposition defences on the back foot, but with Clayton and Avery for starters, plus Amendola and Robinson, we've got a decent set there now. Gibson and Gilyard to come in, too. Just a shame Avery's out for the season.

Clayton's been a great pick up tho and we need to make sure he's here for years to come. Like the Ike comparison!

Targeted 6 times caught 5. Hands are looking much more consistent than week 1. I'm not ready to call him our number 1, but if he keeps this pace through the whole season I might be tempted to, but it wouldn't stop me from drafting Julio Jones, Jonathan Baldwin, or Aj Green because you can never have enough weapons and we haven't had two legit outside threats since bruce and Holt

Just don't forget the other huge similarity: Both Mark and Ike are high devout players, known as "Reverend", and even more to the point, after his playing days are over, Mark wants to become an actual reverend. These guys are indeed very similar and I further second the opinions that we need to lock him down long term. He's in the prime of his career and Sam loves him, obviously. Just think of him as Bradford's Marvin Harrison.
    I believe!

I was thinking the same thing yesterday, he just doesn't have Rev. Bruce's speed.

Maybe this is why Baltimore gave up on him. Clayton was a burner coming out of college, IIRC ...

He doesn't seem to have top end elite speed any longer ...

However, he is very savvy, and makes up for it very well ...

Clayton reminded me very much of Bruce from the first game I saw the way he catches and runs with the ball... so no, you're not going crazy infinity.

Actually, i'm surprised it took this long for someone to start such a thread.

If Clayton reminds you of Bruce, does that mean the Rams don't need to pick up a WR in the offseason because they have a guy who plays like a Hall of Famer already on the roster?

    Rhetorical question?

I think the answer should be obvious based on history alone.

Tory Holt only made The Reverend better.

Not necessarily. Just because they are similar people and have similar mannerisms on the field does not mean he will ultimately produce Bruce like numbers ...

However, I would rather see this season unfold, and see how the WR's mature before deciding as to whether or not we need to invest heavily in a FA or in the draft at this position ...

Clayton and Amendola are givens. Althought, I am concerned about Amendola's long term durability, as he does not protect himself very well ....

I think Gibson can develop into a fixture here. As talented as Robinson is, I have some doubts about him at this point. We will see ....

Gilyard is a wild card ....

Clayton has been amazing. He does remind me of Ike. Just always seems to make the big plays. I knew we were in line for a new receiver, I kind of doubted Clayton, but he sure shut me up.

I've become quite the fan of Clayton and Amendola lately.
