Maybe Rams should draft RB with their 1st pick.

Ingram out Alabama comes to mind. Its time to shake things up! If the Rams are to get back to winning ways. That being said the Rams may have to trade Steven Jackson. The prospects of a QB out college taking over the reigns for the Rams is not great, so the best thing to do is get a FA QB in here. B QUINN, MATT LEINART, VICK come to mind. Along with a RB in the draft or top skills player will start to shake things up for this team!

I respectfully disagree. You do not "shake things up" by trading away your franchise player who has 5-7 years of good football left. We have needs elsewhere to address, and this is best served through both the draft and by shrewd acquisitions- which Devaney has attempted to do (Robinson, Gibson, Fells, etc.) since he became GM.

As for the QB situation, it is silly for people to speculate that these top guys entering the draft won't be any good. They wouldn't be touted as high picks if most people in the know felt they wouldn't make it and be productive NFL players. Furthermore, I don't like the guys you mentioned. Brady Quinn has done nothing to show me he's a guy to lead your franchise for the next 10 years. He can't even beat out Derek Anderson for the job on a woeful Browns team. Vick will never return to his pre-prison electrifying form, and he was NEVER a good passer- not a guy I want running things in St. Louis. And Leinart hasn't been able to crack the starting line-up since he entered the league. If he holds any promise, Arizona will keep him to take over for Warner, who has maybe a year or two left.

Fans have to understand that this isn't baseball- where blockbuster trades are common. Shaking things up requires a more gradual, "stay the course" type of approach, which is exactly what Billy Devaney and Spags are trying to do. We need to get this right. Gradually purging the roster of non-contributors and replacing them with solid players as opposed to looking for the "blockbuster deal" is the right way to go.

How long must we Gradually wait? Why Stay The Course when we can't even Make the Cut? THE TIME IS NOW!

There once was an old CARS tune....what was it?......Oh Yeah!......"SHAKE IT UP!"

Because the RAMS performance on this Course is well below Subpar!!!

    Those FA QBs you mentioned...

I'd rather just draft a rookie QB and groom him. I know it's tempting to get a ton of draft picks but thinking about it more and more, it just doesn't make sense. Trading away an elite NFL talent for more rookies is just absurd. How often have we said this year, "Where's the Veteran leadership?"

    There is none.

Mission accomplished, we've become a young team once again, so yes we can start rebuilding but you need to build around your good players and to trade away SJ is like saying he's not good enough to be built around which is the furthest thing from the truth, wouldn't you agree?

Unless a team is willing to give up 2 1st round picks and a 2nd and a future mid round pick + a developmental QB i dont think we are tradeing Steven Jackson

Jackson will give us 2-3 more good years and maybe 1-2 more productive year after that. So let's go get our Franchise QB

Why would we take a failed franchise QB as a substitution for a real one. QUinn and Vick and lienart failed

I would trade Steven Jackson for nothing less than what the cowboys got for Herschel Walker, and that is never gonna happen again in the NFL. The only team I can think of that would do it is the Patriots, they need a running back and have several picks, and I will stop watching football and believing in humanity if Steven Jackson is a Patriot.

The pats never trade picks for players.. they draft their own players a coach them up. It would be out of their philosophy to trade for jackson.

I respectfully disagree with this statement. Actually the thing I fear the most is drafting a qb in the first round. Since 1990 there have been 42 quarterbacks drafted in the first round. Out of those 42 only 14 of those qb's have had some success for their teams. These qb's are as follows. Also success does not mean they were great qb's either.

    E.Manning
    P.Manning
    Big Ben
    Matt Ryan
    J.Flacco
    S.Mcnair
    J.Cutler (jury still out)
    D.Mcnabb
    C.Pennington
    D.Bledsoe
    P.Rivers
    A.Rodgers
    C.Palmer
    D.Culpepper

Only 4 of those qb's have been on Superbowl winning teams.
    Eli Manning
    Big Ben
    Trent Dilfer
    Peyton Manning

Now lets look at the last 10 superbowl winning qb's and their respective draft position.

    2008-Big Ben-drafted 2004 round 1 pick 11
    2007-Eli Manning-2004 round 1 pick 1
    2006-Peyton Manning-1998 round 1 pick 1
    2005-Big Ben
    2004-Tom Brady-2000 round 6 pick 199
    2003-Tom Brady
    2002-Brad Johnson-1992 round 9 pick 227
    2001-Tom Brady
    2000-Trent Dilfer-1994 round 1 pick 6
    1999-Kurt Warner-Un-drafted 1994

If it werent for Big Ben and the mannings this is filled with low draft picks. Just because a qb is touted high coming out of college doesnt mean anything. I dont see it to be neccessary to pick a qb with our first pick just because Colt Mccoy,Bradford,Tebow and Locker had good seasons. Locker in my opinion is the best of those four. We also dont need to trade away our best player thats just stupid. The reason we are bad now is because of our past draft failures. Hardly any of our draft picks from before the new regime are left on this team. I trust the front office and hopefully they dont do a knee jerk reaction and pick a qb with our first pick because that hardly ever results in success.

I'll agree with you that it would be uncharacteristic of the Pats to do a blockbuster trade, my whole post was stating that we are never gonna trade Jackson. However to claim they never trade for players is a false statement, did you forget how they acquired Randy Moss? Sure it was for a fourth round pick, but never say never...

Trade Jackson is the logical thing to do. In 2 or 3 years with jackson we will
still be a 8n8 team i believe. So why waste his trade value? He could get hurt
and be worth nothing in 3 years. For me, you get top value for him right now.

If he stays with us he is going to end up like Barry Sanders and I want him
    to end up like Bettis.

first of all trading jackson is borderline retarded and second of all all those free agent qb's you mentioned have been poor nfl players outside of vick a number of years ago.

Re: Maybe Rams should draft RB with their 1st pick.

Shaking it up is the last thing this team needs.

    We need Stability.

I know it is extremely hard as a fan not to drag all of the losing and bad decisions into the Spags era but if we want to ever win we have to let go of the baggage.

Spags is responsible so far for 1 year. Period.

While there is a lot I love about Spags #1 on the list is his steady, reasoned leadership.

If anyone has had the excuse to "Shake Things Up" it would be a rookie head coach that has had to face a lot of adversity and bad luck... but he has stayed stead fast.

You can't teach players, create a system and build a strong foundation if you let bumps in the road take you in a different direction.

While I know winning every game is important to Spags and Devaney I don't believe they have made a decision for this organization that does not consider the big picture 2 to 3 years down the road. This is what we need.

I loved 1999 don't get me wrong but I'm tired of looking for another miracle season. I want a team, God forgive me, like the Pats. With a chance to win it all every year.

    Seriously, this thread AGAIN????

Even if Jackson was traded, drafting a RB in the 1st would be borderline dumb, at best ....

Who says you HAVE to draft a RB? And "if" the Rams did trade him it would im sure
be a couple of picks. Maybe 1st and a 3 the following year.
