I think he just had his dreads in a bun and tucked into his pads.
The reports of Steven Jackson's demise have been greatly exaggerated.
no haircut i saw them in his pads
Less dancing = quicker to the line.
I don't think he looked quicker at all. in fact, you can tell he doesn't have that breakaway speed any longer. But over time, that is to be expected.
But how is he going to make the linebackers and safeties think he's a real live Predator now?
Was it just me or did his dreads being tucked into his jersey make him look a little slower.
Might sound stupid but with all those dreads not flailing around his cuts and acceleration arent as flashy.
Maby im just crazy?
Either way i think he looked great and i loved seeing him lower his shoulder and repeatedly punish those d-backs in the open field. NFL athlete or not after a couple of shoulders from SJax your going to be pretty weary of squaring up and tackling him with good form.
SJax did look a little leaner - he bulked up a lot last year. I agree that he's a step slower than he used to be, but is still very good overall and I think his numbers will show it.
Jackson will speed up when the regular season hits he gets stronger as the year goes on I believe.
Also this is preseason so he may not even have throttle up all the way as to not hurt himself. He seemed to be trying to square himself up with most of the defenders in KC.
He IS the Predator. Only now it's Predator Part II. :<>
You got that right amigo! // Below, Jax' uniform ready for battle.Quote:

No matter what JAX does there will always be talk about him. One week its 150 yards and everyone's "Wow The JAX of old is back!!! Great burst!! Sweet Speed! Not slowing down at all!!!" and the next week its 60 yards and its " Man we should trade him, get some value. Or yeah his time has come hes slowing down".
He is still at a pro bowl level. He will be one of the top rushers in the NFL. And he will be spotted in the playoffs this year.
I think Jackson looked slower and went down easier last season, even before his injury. He's looked slow this pre-season as well, at least to me.
I don't say this to knock the guy - he's entering twilight years for a RB and we've worked him to death the past 3 or 4 years. I think he's a great player and still a top 10 back in the league, but 2 or 3 years ago I think he was a top 2 back in the league and he's lost a step since then.
Jax has been playing with a hurt hip though, and remember, it's preseason. I'm sure he's going to be 100% and ready to rock and roll against Philly.
