Meanest ram ever
Who is the meanest ram ever to wear the horns. I mean downright nasty and ornery, not just tough, but an absolute holy terror on the field, a man that struck fear in his opponents on virtually every play.
My nominees.
Deacon Jones. I think he has to be the winner.
Dennis Harrah. A natural born killer and a true beast for many many years. Doesnt get the publicity of a tom mack or even a timmerman, but truly an all time great.
Big Jackie. A truly violent man on the field
Hacksaw Reynolds. Another guy whose intensity was legendary.
Your thoughts guys.

Leonard Little, the guy is a beast! Knocks the crap out of anyone when he gets in on the play! (I didn't get to see D. Jones play
)

I like Deacon number one, with LB Isiah Robertson and CB Pat Thomas not far behind. By far, 3 of the toughest son of a guns to ever where a Ram uniform.
Throw Jack Youngblood in the mix too.

Re: Meanest ram ever
The only guy that I would put in the category with Deacon Jones is Dick Night Train Lane. He and Deacon both had techniques that were disallowed by the NFL. The Night Train Necktie was also a devastating blow to the head of an opponent.

I'd go with Deacon because he's completely unrepentant about anything he did on the field. Youngblood would have to be up there too.

Don't Forget Jim Youngblood.
And yes I mean Jim Youngblood. I am almost sure it was Jim who picked up Tommy Kramer turned him upside down and slammed him down on his head. We are talkin real live rastlin' move.
It was vicious.
Other than that I would have to go with Deacon, or Hacksaw Reynolds. My only problem with Hacksaw is he played for the winers after the Rams.

Deacon Jones was even mean in those Lite Beer "Taste great! Less filling!" commercials. Definitely the meanest Ram ever.

Re: Meanest ram ever
ORF, your nominee, Art Donovan was, indeed, a mean, bad man (actually a good man if you don't consider his football ire)....Their is one some might not know and he was a Ram and just plain mean and nasty. People and players were afraid of him. Funny guy but just plain mean! Here's my vote (Art Donovan) along with the ones above already mentioned. -- ORF
However, there is no record that Donovan ever played with the Rams -- I and certainly remember him well, a mainstay with his beloved Colts of the 50s/60s. I remember simply because we played great games against them so many times!
Art Donovan, first Colt to enter the HOF. Quite an honor.
He just didn't have the honor to play as a RAM.

Re: Meanest ram ever
PS: here's an NFL Pro Football HOF résumé / summary of A. Donovan.
ART DONOVAN -- Class of 1968 (HOF)
Defensive Tackle, 6-2, 263.
Boston College
1950 Baltimore Colts, 1951 New York Yanks, 1952 Dallas Texans, 1953-1961 Baltimore Colts.
Arthur James Donovan, Jr. Son of famous boxing referee of same name. Played at Boston College after World War II Marines service. Born June 5, 1925, in Bronx, New York.
First Colt to enter Pro Football Hall of Fame. Began NFL play as 26-year-old rookie in 1950 . Vital part of Baltimore's climb to powerhouse status in 1950s. All-NFL, 1954 through 1958. Played in five Pro Bowls.
Great morale builder on Colts teams.
Again, he only had the PRIVILEGE to play Vs. Rams, but, too bad for him, not AS A RAM!Last edited by RealRam; -06-01-2006 at 03:24 AM.
