    michael hawthorne

did anyone else think that hawthorne should have made the play on the first td pass? The ball was in the air a while, fisher was on the guy and i thought hawthorn was going to pick it off, let alone knock it down and all of a sudden he just didnt get there. Looked almost like he was afraid of running into fisher.
He also had a terrible interference penalty in the fourth quarter.

I don't trust Hawthorne back there. He's always a step too slow. He lacks the field awareness that it takes to play 'center field.' I'd feel more comfortable with Antuan Edwards back there.

I still think we should give Aeneas a call. His contract wouldn't be guaranteed at this point in the season so why not give it a shot. He has that ability to read where the ball's gonna go and there's no doubt in my mind he would've prevented the two biggest passing plays in that game.

    WE NEED AENEAS!

I agree 100% with you both! Hawthorne gave a half-a** effort on that play. It looked like he was there in time to at least deflect it if not intercept it. I would much rather have Edwards back there. Aeneas would be welcome if healthy!

On a side note, I have a real pet pieve about our corner's and safeties failure to turn their head and look for the ball while covering one on one. We get burned because of that over and over. You can't intercept it if you can't see it!

Um - #27 had a bead on the ball from the 20 yard line. It's hard to believe, but if you watch the play a few times in slow motion, it looks even worse. #27 won't cut it in my book if he continues to play like he did yesterday.

that ball should have been picked off. i thought for sure he had picked it off, then all of a sudden i saw lloyd with the ball. should have been an easy turnover. any other starting safety in the nfl would have picked that off no problem.

Hawthorne needs to be put on ST were he should be able to play, and give OJ the starting FS spot.

I've been telling you - they've got pansies back there in the secondary. Puny little wusses more concerned with whether their dredlocks are knotted properly.

You bring Slater out of retirement and I'll bring the Nighttrain out. Even with a walker those two would deliver punishment that would shrivel the opponent's muscle memory into jello pop.

Night Train would sure clean a few clocks back there, that is for sure. I think he could still handle the bump and run coverage, although his recovery speed might be a bit suspect at this point. Big Jackie on the other hand is only about 30 pounds over his playing weight of 415 and i cant imagine that he couldnt lose that weight if he just cut back to 15,028 calories a day over the next week or two.

Wow one mistake and you blow up. I mean Fisher got beat that play and your givign Hawthorne more heck than our Special Teams? You can't blame it on one player. Like our Oline, you guys are saying that it was Tuckers fault, it was the whole olines fault I mean Orlando Pace was blocking Bryant Young and Young had 3 sacks. And you say nothing about him? I mean comeon this is a team game and well... Our TEAM lost.

Who says we're not compaining about special teams? Check out the other posts on the board. Fisher was playing the man. It's Hawthorne's job, since he was playing center field, to play the ball. That was a gimme INT.

Orlando Pace didn't give up one sack that game. Not sure where you got that from.

My point exactly. The Left End lines up against the Right Tackle.

Leonard Little is the left end in our defense.

LMAO, did you even watch the game? Do your eyes even work? Let's try this out for starters...

The Left End for the defense lines up oppopsite the Right End of the offense. So that would mean he went up against the Right Tackle, who happened to be a person by the name of Tucker. In case that wasn't clearly obvious, Tucker happens to be white and Pace happens to be black.

    Seriously, think before you post.
