Mistake or the better odds?
This is where my football knowledge is lacking.
I think it was a mistake for Danny to bring the ball out of the end zone on the last kick off. Take the touch back and gain 20 yards without losing any time.
Instead he gained 3 more yards but burned valuable seconds.
But no one as brought that up so maybe it was the right call. Maybe the odds are better he can break one for a td then we can get two plays off in 10 seconds to set up the field goal.
I know both our based in desperation but I was curious what others thought.

Re: Mistake or the better odds?
My thought is, he did have a couple of good returns during the game and if he could have got out around the 35-40 on the return it would have gave Sam a shot at reaching the endzone with a hail-mary or maybe could have drawn a pass interference call.

Bad move on Danny's part ....
Kneel down, and take one shot 30-40 yards down field. If you somehow get it, you have a field goal attempt for win ...

Re: Mistake or the better odds?
I'd rather take my shot on a kick return where it's truly 10 people blocking 11. When you go to the deep pass hail/mary what you have is 5 receivers going against 8 DBs (3 rushing the QB). The odds of catching the ball are slim and they are even more difficult to generate a play after the catch. Sure the defense can fall apart and give up the big play but I think it's more likely the special teams unit will do so.

Re: Mistake or the better odds?
Tough call, but I'd go with Amendola trying to get something on the return. He has shown big play explosiveness on returns, so it was worth a try. The Bucs certainly disagreed as they had no problems kicking away to him.

Re: Mistake or the better odds?
I think kneeling it would have been the better move.
It's noticeable that this team has been getting too eager in games to make plays, for example:
The Atogwe-Kehl missed interception
Fells running out the clock by not falling down before halftime last week
And just a lot of other missed opportunities to do something, which is ruined by eagerness. I guess this is just fixed by getting more experience, since our team is so young.
