Most money paid in nfl history? Bradford.

The Rams and representatives for Sam Bradford kicked off their negotiations Friday in St. Louis as they attempt to get the quarterback under contract in time for training camp.
A deal is unlikely to be struck Friday, a league source said, but both the Rams and Bradford's reps are expected to lay the groundwork for what will be the richest contract in NFL history.
The guaranteed money in the deal is expected to be between $45 million and $50 million, the source said.
Last year the Detroit Lions gave No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford a six-year deal that included $41.7 million in guaranteed money.
Both sides are aiming to finalize a deal by the time the Rams open training camp to their rookies on July 28. Bradford was the draft's No. 1 pick out of Oklahoma.

Sammy doesn't seem to mind not getting paid $50 million guaranteed but his agents look too greedy, its really another slap to the face right when we're near the rookie salary cap but not yet there and will possibly have to pay him a nasty contract...

I'll be glad when we're NOT drafting the #1 guy next year, so that we will no longer have the "highest paid" guy in league history.

Unless we get a rookie wage scale and the exploding 1st player taken contract issue gets solved one year too late for us...
    I believe!

That is possible. And to be honest, for the good of the league, it SHOULD happen.

If no salary cap is put in place , the Rams will be the poster child for a franchise in financial ruin. With 3 of the top 10 salaries paid out to rookies in the last 3 years and the Highest guaranteed contract ever on the horizon, the Rams could go bankrupt and still be looking to draft in the top 3 again. Not the position you want your organization to look forward to.

That just has to be absolutely crippling for the Rams. The NFL absolutely has to implement a rookie wage scale. What are the Rams supposed to do if they pick #1 again next draft? They certainly cannot afford another salary like that. They could trade the pick away, but teams will low ball them because they know the Rams have no choice but to get out of the top spot. And how do the Rams improve if they're bad and having to give away their top picks because they simply can't afford them?

And that's just how it effects the team. It's absurd how rookies who have never played a single NFL down get paid more than the veterans.

The NFL is the best run league in sports. I love Roger Goodell. But this one problem is glaring and needs to be addressed and addressed quickly.

Wow, a new NFL's highest paid player. We haven't had that title change in like months!

But I will admit that it is a little crazy to think that the system has reached a point where any player would get seven or eight million a year guaranteed, much less a rookie.

let's hope bradford's agent has a little sense to work with contract negotiations and not against them.
