My Candidate For The (Hopefully Available Soon) Rams' GM Job
I have a candidate for the Rams' GM job who may surprise some, but I think would be ideal.
Mike Holmgren.
Currently, Holmgren has one year to go on this HC contract with Seattle. The Hawks have already advised him that they are not going to extend his contract at this time. As a result, Holmgren may be about to leave Seattle, and likely could be coaxed to do so with the right offer.
Holmgren was the GM/HC in Seattle from 1999-2002 and, though he ultimately relinquished that role to concentrate on coaching, did a good job of acquiring talent that made the team a success (i.e. he drafted Steve Hutchinson, Darryl Jackson, Sean Alexander, Ken Lucas and Rocky Bernard, and traded to aquire Matt Hasselbeck from Green Bay).
I think Holmgren may be at the point in his career where he might prefer (much like Parcells) to concentrate on the GM role.
Right now, he's my top guy.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I like it!! Do you think thougn that Mike would come here without having final say on just about everthing? In order to attract Mike, I think Chip would have to clean house and cede complete control to Holmgren along with a whole bunch of money. Do you see that as a possibility this year?

from what I am reading Chip wants to be involved but yet doesn't want to be involved,I think he would jump at the chance to put someone in the decision making role that he could trust, Holmgren(nice choice),it would cost $$$,but I think it would be worth every penny.

Re: My Candidate For The (Hopefully Available Soon) Rams' GM Job
Shaw and Ziggy have worked for Chip's mom for over two decades. He probably trusts them already. Even if he feels that the team needs a new direction, (how could he not?) he may wish to wait until he sells the team and allow the new owner to clean house. Shaw will likely move on this year, but Ziggy probably has designs on being top dog ..

My vote is for AV, Then the house cleaning could really begin. Just how do we convince Chip that AV is the man for the job
