This is my official (for what that's worth) pick for HC.
Mike Smith - DC, Jaguars
As the Jags DC, he took over a defense on the downhill slide (ranked 5th, 9th, 18th, & 20th in the respective years before Smith) and turned them around with finishes of 6th, 11th, & this year 4th. All the while doing so opposite an offense that keeps Jags defense ON the field.
Before Jacksonville, Smith was the LB coach in Baltimore and the D-line coach for the Ravens prior to that. In Smith's years in Baltimore ('99-'02), the Ravens D finished 2nd, 1st, 4th, & 19th.
The guy has had success with defenses everywhere he's gone. He's young enough (46) to still be flexible and may bring an energy this place has been missing for some time.
It'll probably never happen, but I am officially declaring myself the Chairman of the Mike Smith for Head Coach Committee.
"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Do you remember seeing an old Goldie Hawn movie called "Wildcats"?
At this point, I'm about ready to write Shaw and ask him to throw her name into the hat....Super Bowl Champions 2013!

Kirk Ferentz Iowa Hawkeyes HC. He brought a team out of no where to bring them to 4 or 5 straight New Years Day bowls. Nation Championship Game, Outback Bowl, Capital One Bowl and now the Outback bowl all in a role. And like I said he had a no team and he hired his own personal and now look at there. There one of the best programs in the nation.

Smith has around 24 years of coaching experience - there's a plus.
I take Jeff Fischer, if he's available ... If the Rams wine and dine him, it's possible - But, I don't see that happening.
