New deal coming for Armey
Source: Rams will extend GM Armey's deal
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The St. Louis Rams will extend the contract of general manager Charlie Armey within the next 4-6 weeks, sources at this week's NFL owners' meetings said.
Armey, whose contract expires next January, reportedly was interested in a five-year deal, but sources said the Rams will extend him one season -- ending speculation that the club might make front-office changes.
Armey, who joined the Rams in 1997 after serving the previous six years with New England, oversees the club's college and pro scouting departments.
While Armey is highly regarded within the league his differences with coach Mike Martz caused some club observers to believe a shakeup could be forthcoming. But sources close to the Rams insist that won't happen and that the club will make Armey a one-year offer shortly.
The Rams have been to two Super Bowls under Armey's direction, beating Tennessee in Super Bowl XXXIV and losing to New England two years later. The club also won the NFC West three of the past six seasons.

An Armey of one (year) is fine with me.
This very short term deal should allow the Rams to attend to the mediate needs facing the team at this juncture; this is a highly important, defining year, IMO. Many variables are on the horizon already, players wise.
