Re: New Rams by the Numbers
It's possible to wear number #0? Don't think I've ever seen that.
For the receivers I've always preferred numbers like 80, 81 etc. and not those 14, 17 numbers - 80-something just looks like a receiver to me for some reason and those other numbers don't

Jim Otto wore 00 his entire career, not sure if anyone would be allowed to do it again though

I feel bad for the guy wearing "0", cannot be a good way to start your career.

Re: New Rams by the Numbers
Cool info. Thanks a lot!
Did Brown wear no. 2 in Seattle? You think he would have more seniority over a rookie punter for that number here in St. Louis.

Re: New Rams by the Numbers
"00" I believe was retired by the NFL, so nobody could wear it ever again. I think Jim Otto was the last person to ever wear it.
But these are training camp numbers, right? So maybe the team can let players wear whatever they want during this time.

Bartell wears #24. King took Bly's old number...hopefully he turns out to be a steal as well!

Wide Receiver Kenny Burroughs of the Houston Oilers wore 00 slightly after Jim Otto. So it may or may not be retired.

Re: New Rams by the Numbers
Minor complaint. Does it annoy anyone else when a receiver wears a number not in the 80s?

Re: New Rams by the Numbers
I agree that I prefer the WR numbers to be in the 80's. However, I don't feel like they should be restricted to choosing 1 of 10 possible number choices considering how many players each team fields at the position.
let's go thru alternatives:
WR's wearing a number...
in the 90's? nah, that's DL territory.
in the 70's? see above.
in the 60's? can't have the OL get dissed.
in the 50's? could work, but seems funny.
in the 40's? could work, but again seems funny and treading on the Safeties.
in the 30's? eh..., starting to take over the RB area and the numerous secondary positions.
in the 20's? definitely gonna make the rb's confused and hurt their feelings
which leaves 0-20 which is the other number range that WR's commonly use in addition to something in the 80's.
While I prefer in the 80's, there are not enough kickers and qb's to use up all 1- 19. So if they're gonna take any other numbers, i like em taking numbers from the kickers and QB's.

Re: New Rams by the Numbers
Teams can issue a" 00 ", BUT " 0 " cannot . the wearing of a single " 0 " brings some confusion to referee because of the ability lose that single number in a sea of numbers . Or my opinion , that it gives that player wearing it the stigma of playing with what is a BULLSEYE on your chest . not so good.

Re: New Rams by the Numbers
Can someone please get to Trent Green and talk him out of wearing the Rams kiss of death? #12 is the worst possible number for a Rams QB. Historically, #12 is an iconic number for QB's but nothing remotely close for the Rams.

Re: New Rams by the Numbers
Actually, Sebastian Sejean was part of that thing where they assign a foreign player to each team for the practice squad and it dosent count against them for the year. We cant release him. Correct me if Im wrong.
