Next Ram to Make His First Pro Bowl
I've done a poll like this in previous seasons, and I thought it was time to ask the question again...
Who will be the next Ram player to make his first Pro Bowl? (for the record, with the release of Leonard Little, the only current Ram who has been to the Pro Bowl is Steven Jackson)
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

James Laurinaitis.

Re: Next Ram to Make His First Pro Bowl
I went with Jason Brown, mainly because he does not have as much competition at his position compared to others.
That said, if Long is able to register 10+ sacks, or if Laurinaitis leads the NFC in tackles (which he is certainly capable of doing), they would have a good chance given their name recognition.
Of course, Sam Bradford could make it this year, even if he has a typical rookie QB season, merely due to the number of QBs who drop out of the game!
By the way... in last year's poll, the top 5 votegetters were:
O.J. Atogwe 56
Donnie Jones 29
Donnie Avery 20
Chris Long 19
Will Witherspoon 17
In 2008, the top 5 were:
Will Witherspoon 38
O.J. Atogwe 29
Adam Carriker 8
Chris Long 6
Jacob Bell 5Last edited by AvengerRam; -05-04-2010 at 06:32 PM.

Re: Next Ram to Make His First Pro Bowl
For me it comes down to 3.
Donnie Jones
Chris Long
James Lauriniatis
The reason i dont think Jason Smith will be the next is because Pro Bowls come down to popularity. Smith's popularity was high last year because he was the 1st OT selected. But he came out of an unpopular school (Baylor) and plays for the Rams. So he is going to have to really out perform the other OTs in the NFC. Look at S-Jax mid season there was no argument he was the best runner in the NFC hands down but he was 4th eventually he got in.
I think Donnie Jones is the best punter in the NFL but he needs to get popular.
Honestly Lauriniatis and Long are pretty popular with the accolades and college careers they had. Lauriniatis has way too much competition.
Long will face RTs this year im expecting a 13 sack season
I went with CHris Long
My prediction
13 sacks 19 TFL 51 tackles

Re: Next Ram to Make His First Pro Bowl
Duh! Alex Barron!
It is a shame that the longsnapper position isn't a voted position. We have the best longsnapper in the league in Chris Massey.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Next Ram to Make His First Pro Bowl
I say Chris Long because I feel this will be his break out year. Look at Mario Williams, his break out season was his third season and this will be Long's. I really think this is the year Chris becomes a dominant DE.

Re: Next Ram to Make His First Pro Bowl
Barron, if you are correct on your 13 sack projection on Chris Long i will personally commend you as Leading Psychic on the Board. I sure hope you are correct, that is a very bold projection.
I voted for laurianitis, but with the quality (or lack thereof) of the rams defense, that could be wishful thinking, even though he will deserve it.
I fear that the correct answer is oj atogwe, with 8 ints for a contending team after we lose him with no compensation. I hope that is not the case.

Re: Next Ram to Make His First Pro Bowl
Jason Brown if I remember, was nearly an alternate last year, so I think with a little more recognition he could sneak in.

Re: Next Ram to Make His First Pro Bowl
Gotta be Jason Brown IMO he is the best center in the NFC and maybe the league and the Stats prove it.
If OJ plays like 09 and we put together a halfway decent record it would be a huge snub if he didn't make the pro bowl. You know OJ tackle numbers will be high and he will be at the top when it comes to forcing and recovering fumbles at the safety position. If he can get 6+ INTs he should definately make the pro bowl. I could still see him getting snubed like when Ken Hamlin (hows he doing now
) got the nod over him a couple years back. Its a glorified popularity contest.
It is going to be tough for Laurantis to beat out Patrick Willis, Jon Beason, and Johnathan Vilma especially if those teams have a great records. He would still be third on my list.
Donnie Jones is my 4th. Even though he has been a pro bowl caliber punter. Since he is a punter the only way he gets voted in is if the Rams win games. ITS A POPULARITY CONTEST.
Chris Long my 5th choice has the toughest road. Not only is he going to have to get double digit sacks which is extremely hard. He is going against perennial pro bowlers like Julius Peppers, Jared Allen, Will Smith, Trent Cole, and the Giants DEs.
Wild Card of course is Sam Bradford. If the Rams win 9 plus games Sam Bradford has to be a pro bowler and Spags has to be coach of the year. Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees are locks barring Injury IMO. If the Rams win 9 plus game likely making the playoffs I would have to believe Sammy has done something to vault him past Old Man Farve and Tony Romo

I didn't mean 13 sacks, but I meant more along the line of 7 sacks or 8 sacks. If he has that much, I consider that on an All Pro level.
