Great pick. He'll have to be excorcised and all .... ya know, get that silly elephant thing out of him, but what a great value.

If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.

Gotta love this pick. Team leader, captain of a dominant line, can play all line positions, superior football intelligence, academic All-American, Outland Trophy winner, Remington Trophy winner, 2-time unanimous All-American, 3-time National Champion, and a high character guy.

As far as value, I think we hit the jackpot here.

Barrett Jones! Solid pick in the 4th round. Gives this offensive line an identity of it's own to compete with our defensive line. I know Fisher and Snead we're exchanging high fives after this one.

Seems like a great value and great guy.
A defeated look of consternation, dissappointment, or even pain. The name derives from the look one often gets when challenged by a large BM.

If his injury is healed, this is a great pick. Even if he does not start as a rookie, he provides depth at every OL position. Eventually, he'll be a starting OG or C.

If nothing else, he gives us depth and options on the line. Excellent pick.

Was not aware of BJ but sure looks like a great addition to the future of the Rams OL! In fact, from what I've read here it is likely this future is quite sooner than later! Excellent potential it seems he has.

A fiery young OL but in control, physical, smart.

Hmm, according to NFL Player Profile, says that one of BJ's weakneses is, "Doesn'ít play with a mean streak."

    I beg to differ.

Sure do hope this young recruit is progressing towards being stable, strong health wise.

In a few years we might be calling him the steal of the 2013 draft.

After reading up on the guy, it seems a mystery to me how he dropped as far as he did given the fact the perception of G/C has changed in recent years and teams are willing to spend high picks on those positions now.

Besides his injury history, which appears minor for the most part and in the past, it seems like he dominated in college. Not only dominated, but did so in the SEC, where defensive linemen aren't exactly powder puffs. Am I missing something on why this guy dropped so far?

No, your spot on. People just think he wouldn't translate well. He's small, not very strong, often injured. It still is a question in my mind, can he handle a NT? A guy that's 320-350 lbs?

It's not often you hear a 6'4" 300 lb man called "small"

Scouts Inc had this to say regarding his size
Prototypical blend of height, weight and top-end speed for an interior offensive lineman. On the lighter side and just adequate arm length (34.1) for an offensive tackle.
They gave him a 1 on a scale of 1-5 for height/weight, 1 being "Exceptional"

They give him high marks for technique, but grade him down due to the lack of a mean streak. Maybe that's why he dropped.

Re: NFL DRAFT: With 113th pick, Rams select BARRETT JONES (OL, Alabama)

What I like about Barrett is many fold. You want a smart center making line calls. You want one that can work with Bradford longer term. The key thing I love about Barrett is that he reminds me of Andy McCollum. He can play all three interior positions very well just like Andy and that's a huge value long term. For 2013, Barrett is the backup to all three positions and when someone gets hurt, he'll be there to step in as a starter. You don't have to shift the line this year to recover from an injury.

Barrett not only played each of the key position, he won awards while playing them which shows he did it at a high level.

Merlin Olsen and Rosie Greer were nice guys too. Nice that we got some high character guys.
