NFL Network hires Marshall Faulk as analyst wire reports

ST. LOUIS (Aug. 14, 2006) -- Marshall Faulk, out for the season and facing reconstructive knee surgery that almost certainly will end his career, has joined the NFL Network as an analyst.

The St. Louis Rams' star running back, 33, is ninth on the career rushing list with 12,279 yards, 34 yards behind Jim Brown. But he had a career-low 292 yards rushing last year and made only one start, in the season finale when Steven Jackson was out with a hip pointer.

Faulk was the 2000 NFL Most Valuable Player. He won the Super Bowl after the 1999 season with the Rams. Faulk played for Indianapolis from 1994-98.

"Marshall is widely regarded as one of the smartest football players of his generation," NFL Network executive producer Eric Weinberger said. "We expect him to be as versatile on our network as he is on the playing field."

Hope he sticks up for us like Eric Dickerson does on CBS.

    It's Jim not Chris
