NFL Total Access reports that Mike Martz...
...told his agent that he feels better right now than he has at any point, and that he's been making a lot of progress.
...wants to come back later this season to coach the Rams as well as return next season to coach the Rams.
...needs medical clearance before he can attempt to return to coaching this year.

That's funny.. He is totally going to stir up the pot if he get's cleared to come back this year. I hope he does. You know the front office does not want him to. They could try to stop him, but it would really look bad.
I like Mike. He's got Moxy.
Mike Martz for President.... (Well, offensive President, anyway.)

Wow, this could get VERY sticky for the FO if Martz gets medical clearance to come back before the end of the season. I hear the wheels grinding already in anticipation of a showdown.

Re: NFL Total Access reports that Mike Martz...
Odd, this team is (for the most part) out of the playoff race, and yet things are starting to get interesting...

I for one would really like to see what Martz could do with Fitzgerald's development.

I totally agree, you've got to love that Mike Martz. A gunslinger to the end.

It's going to be interesting to see if Martz gets cleared, because he's going to completely force Shaw's hand.
Because if Martz is cleared, the only way Shaw could probably keep him out is to try and enforce Martz's own statements about how it would be unfair to the team for him to have "one foot in and one foot out."
But then again, Shaw said, "Our No. 1 concern is his health... He has a contract and we expect him to coach." So if he's cleared by a doctor, according to Shaw's own statements, Martz could be back in. If Martz doesn't get medical clearance though, it's a moot point.
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

If Martz is cleared, he will definitly have the advantage. Plus he could always play the "Georgia promised me I could coach the Rams as long as I want to" card.

Re: NFL Total Access reports that Mike Martz...
Can't help but wonder if Matt Millen has spoke to Mike Martz. He fires Mooch and now Martz is saying he's better. Got to admit, there is a vacancy that suits our offensive genius.

Maybe, but that wouldn't explain why he'd be anxious to return this season. If he wanted the Detroit job, why not sit out and then put his name in the hat after the season?

Yea, like a Rams doctor (ie. Rams payroll, ie. under Shawgmunt) is going to clear Martz to come back.
