    No I in team.

Bradford was really coming along nicely. He was on pace to have a career year. His stats are excellent. Despite his good play, the whole team was so-so. Then enter Zak Stacy and the offensive play got better. Then Bradford got injured and all hope was lost it seemed. Enter Clemens.

With Clemens at the helm, things don't look too terrible, he's a backup QB, nothing more. However, despite Bradford not playing, this team has not looked awful at all. Zak Stacy is running well, offensive line is doing well, defensive line has really stepped it up, and secondary has been alright.

So, are we witnessing the Rams finally playing as a team? Are we finally seeing players on both sides of the ball executing and doing their part? The record doesn't say much, however, the past 2 games besides the colts have come down to the last play. I think things are really coming together nicely. Goes to show that defense still dominates. Also goes to show that this whole team needs to play to win games, not just the QB. Clemens hasn't been spectacular but his stats are nice because this team has looked better overall.

So why does it take a qb going down for a team to step it up?

    Re: No I in team.

You are mistaking coincidence for causation.

The Rams running game improved with the insertion of Zac Stacy into the starting lineup. With Bradford and Stacy both starting, the Rams were 2-1. Since then, Stacy has continued to play in Bradford's absence, but the team has been 1-2. In those two losses, turnovers by the QB and the inability to punch the ball in from the Red Zone (which Bradford excelled at this year) were big factors.

As far as the overall team performance goes, I don't think its much of a surprise that we're playing a bit better as the season progresses. We have a lot of first and second year guys playing key roles. It takes time for new pieces to start fitting together.

When a key player is lost for the season, in this case the quarterback, many times players understand that in order to have any chance at success each man has to pick up his level of performance. Out of necessity, teams become more focused. Good coaches reinforce this notion and good players make it happen. Whether or not we will continue to see that trend with the Rams is anybody's guess, but the overall effort the last three weeks has been very good. It shows that guys have pride and aren't willing to concede anything.

What is more alarming is why it took losing a QB for the Rams to start playing with some urgency and some smarts. I can't answer why. I can only surmise that with each game, a young team is getting more and more acclimated to what it takes to win at the NFL level. And with a renewed sense of focus and guys having to grow up in a hurry, the level of play has gotten better.

Didn't we all expect the Rams to play better in the second half as the youth matured?

    Exactly.

The suggestion that it was prompted by Bradford's injury is kind of silly, if you ask me.

That depends on how good you are with a word processor. I once created a word document that looked like it said TEAM in really large letters. It was actually a bunch of "I"s, using a block FONT.

I guess I just got tired of hearing "No I in team" one too many times.

    Re: No I in team.

I don't know. I heard during the game that Clemens understands the offense better than Bradford. That could be the case and if it is, then Sam needs to do some studying while he is sitting down resting his leg. However, we have not gotten better as a team on offense. The big change has come on Defense and Special Teams. Our Defense got us close to a win against Seattle and dominated a very good offense in Indy. So is it really the loss of Bradford or the addition of Dunbar after his 4 game suspension. Perhaps he brought something we needed and made us better.
Austin sure has picked up his game since a poor start to the year. He went from being a complete bomb to a first class playmaker that I want to see each and every week. I was wrong about him and glad I was. He brought excitement back to our game on special teams even though he still has a fumbleing problem. One last thing to fix.

Who did you hear that from? The drunk fan sitting in the row in front of you?

It never ceases to amaze me how much nonsense is posted about Sam.
