No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
" Coach Fisher has told the local media a few minutes ago that Rams kicker Josh Brown will be released tomorrow and he has be told that. "
- Tony Softli
" Coach Jeff Fisher already has informed Josh Brown of his release. Cutting the kicker saves the Rams $2.7 million of salary cap space "
- Jim Thomas
You know what the saddest part is? Its Brown's 33rd birthday tomorrow.
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
This is a bit surprising, happening as early as it did. The new guy hasn't kicked a single ball for us yet, I would have thought that they would at least bring both to camp and compete for a bit.
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
I wish Josh well and hope the new kicker sucks. I"M TIRED OF FIELD GOALS! : )

He needs to be money on extra points though.
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
I didn't realize releasing Brown would save us that much, I really like this pick now.
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
Just curious, if the new kicker "sucks" how does that help the rams win?
Ramming speed to all

Unlike you, I like when the Rams scores points, so I hope Zuerlein does well for the Rams. no matter how many kicks he has to send threw the posts...
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
Guess I should have went with the ; ) instead of the : ) to make sure people knew it was just in fun. Obviously (or so I thought) I don't want the new kicker to suck... all though I do hope we need him for PATs way more than field goals.

New & Improved! ...Less FGs, more TDs! :) But as Weasel said, new kicker must be money on PATs.
PS: Thanks JB!

33rd birthday??
That's about his range in yards these days anyway..... Cheerio!
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
I have a feeling this was a strategy to save cap space and not about which kicker is better.
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
When you're the 2nd highest paid kicker in the NFL, and 33rd in FG % made, somethings going to give. Pretty easy decision IMO.
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
We can now use this 2.7 mil on draft picks, and maybe a free agent OLB. There are still some players out there (Rocky McIntosh), and Fisher specifically said there are still players out in pro free agency that he is considering to add to support the linebacker position.
Re: No Surprise, Josh Brown released Tomorrow!
I like the idea of being able to pursue an OLB in FA with the money we saved. Even a somewhat-below-average starting Will is an upgrade at this point and if we can turn our glaring holes into smaller holes, I think we should be a top 15 defense this year.
