"It's only cheatin' if you get caught" - by

It seems politics are involved with everything, so, let's try not to be naive here.
The NFL is a copycat league. I seriously doubt there are many, if any, deep, dark secrets among the fraternity of NFL coaches.
Eons ago, coaches would run players into the huddle to call plays. When that became too inconvenient we began to see signals.
On offense we saw the emergence of wireless communication through the coaches headset and the QB's helmet device. In the meantime the defense was left with the sideline signals or player substitutions to send in plays.
I'm sure everyone has notoced how the coaches cover their mouths with the play sheet while calling in plays to the QB. Gee, I wonder why? Do you suppose another team might try and cheat by employing the services of a lip reader to steal plays?
OMG - Alert the media - NFL scandal - Teams are trying to cheat!
Well, at least teams are not trying to steal the defensive signals, right?
Now - I'm certain some of you might not be aware of everything that was discussed at the 2007 owners meetings. One of the things they discussed and voted on was a rule change that would let one defensive player wear the wireless device. The vote was 22-10 in favor. However, the proposal needed a 3/4 owner approval to go into effect for the 2007 season. One of the more vocal opponents to this rule change was none other than Bill Bellichick. I suppose it was just a coincidence that Bill was busted at the start of the 2007 season. Yes, it had to be a coincidence.
And what happened at this years meetings? Yes, for the 2008 season the owners approve the use of the wireless communication device for one defensive player. So, everyone look for the defensive guy with the green dot on the back of his helmet.
Now I wonder what those video cam operators are going to do for a job? It would be a cryin' shame if they all had to be retrained on the use wireless eavesdropping equipment. Oh well, that's politics!
