Rams | Henderson says he will meet with them
Tue, 10 Jan 2006 15:50:21 -0800
The Associated Press reports New York Jets defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson said he will interview with the St. Louis Rams for their head coaching vacancy.
Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
At least the people they're talking to have done fairly good work with their teams. But I hope we can get a name in the next week or so and get things rolling.
Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
They're probably biding their time to make it appear that they are being thorough. When in reality they've already decided on Rivera. At least I hope so.
Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
Agree Viper, that is my first choice as well. But the problem is, I don't know why. There are so many of us that hope it is Rivera, but yet the guy has so little experience. I find it interesting that not many other teams are as interested as we are.
Part of the problem is that there are so little to choose from.

Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
I think his resume is quite impressive. Not only being on the '85 Chicago defense himself, but also learning from some of the best defensive coaches of the modern era.
I just hope someone doesn't sweep him out from under us before we make the move, if he is indeed who they intend to select.

No one can make "the move" until the Bears are out of the playoffs.

Good point. Still they could let their intensions be known to Rivera earlier than that couldn't they?

I'm sure in a hush hush kinda way, but we won't know until the Bears are done. Don't want to risk any tampering charges. We might have already made our intentions known to Rivera who knows.
Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
Just out of curiosity, would it be considered tampering if during the interview that they just had, if Shaw says to Rivera, "You know Ron, based on our conversation today, I think you're our guy. In fact, I think your price is reasonable and we'll even throw in a $250,000 signing bonus and two weeks in my condo in Bermuda." Just asking because I'm not sure how it works.
Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
What's wrong with being thorough? Its not like we can hire most of these guys for a few weeks anyway.
Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
Not that bad. I mean considering they had alot of injuries on D last year they were still ranked 12th. Sure beats 30th.!
Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
I only want Henderson if he brings Vilma with him LOL

Abraham's welcome to tag along too. What's up, my fellow Ram brothers? Hey Chiguy, welcome home! I noticed you were "lost in the wilderness" there for awhile. Peace :helmet:

How long was Lovie our DC before he got the HC in Chicago
Re: Now Henderson being interviewed
It's all getting a little strange and Henderson is a surprise to me, but Mr Shaw never ceases to surprise.......
As for Rivera, I'm all for giving him a shot despite the mere 2 years as DC because I'd like to see a fresh face and this man seems to have what the media terms, 'intangibles'. In addition, he's an ex-NFL player and he's also spent coaching time around guys who know defence and he seems to be personally very driven.
Only note of caution that I'd care to sound is that were it not for the bears 8 straight wins he wouldn't be on anyone's radar and that could be why no-one else is falling over themselves to sign him up.
But note how some franchises move extremely fast and silently and appoint HC's promptly whilst we are interviewing guys previously thought to be out of the reckoning and are briefing hacks that we have no clear frontrunner for the position.
Nervous? Oh yes my friends................................
