    Offensive Line

    Barron-Bell-Brown-Cogs-Smith

Does that sound like what it will be next year?

    Can Grecco beat out Incognito?

Where is Schuening's future with this team? (I really like him)

Do you think Barron will be gone next year, and would Grecco be able to play RT? (I want him to stay, but I don't know if the Front Office does)

    Re: Offensive Line

Well I don't think the front office is giving up on Grecco after just one year, and working his way into the lineup during that year. Or are you referring to Barron? In that case, I still think it's hard to let him go, given the history of our offensive line's health, and the state of free agent OT's being virtually non-existent. However, only time will tell at this point. I think a lot of it rests on Grecco's development as a tackle though, if that's where they choose to place him.

the 5 you mentioned and the order of where they will line up,seems the favorite at this point.
i think Greco,Schuening & Setterstrom are capable of stealing the starting jobs off Barron (with Smith starting at LT and Greco at RT) Bell & Cogs...i believe unlike the regimes under Martz & Linehan,Spags wont be loyal to players who arent performing...under performers will be taken out of the team..so if Barron, Bell & Cogs dont step up their game then Schuening (who i also like a lot) Greco & Setterstrom (if healthy) will soon be starting. but at this point its the 5 you mentioned first whose job it will be to lose.

i believe theres some rule in the NFL where you can only suit up either 7 or 8 O-lineman so...

if its 7,i would suit up..

Barron,Bell,Brown,Cogs,Smith,Schuening(OG/C)Greco(swing man for OG & OT like Goldberg plays)

    if its 8...

    Barron,Bell,Brown,Cogs,Smith,Greco,Schuening,Setterstrom.

the coaching staff may prefer to have Goldberg in the mix because of his experience..but those are the 7 & 8 sets of linemen that id go with personally

I really don't know! I was going to post this earlier today.

Would Jason Smith start at RT? I know Barron can play there.

    I would love to see...

    Barron - Bell - Brown - Greco - Smith.

    Re: Offensive Line

Here's the list of animals the staff has to pick from.

    TACKLES:
    Phillip Trautwien (6'6"-310)
    David Oswald (6'8"-330)
    Jason Smith (6'5"-309)
    Daren Heerspink (6'6"-315)
    Alex Barron (6'7"-315)
    Adam Goldberg (6'7"-318)...listed as tackle/guard
John Greco (6'4"-315)...also listed as tackel/guard

    CENTERS:
    Jason Brown (6'3"-320)
    Tim Mattran (6'5"-298)
    Daniel Sanders (6'2"-316)

    GUARDS:
    Ray Feinga (6'4"-337)
    Roger Allen III (6'2"-326)
    Mark Setterstom (6'4"-314)
    Richie Incognito (6'3"-330)
    Ray Schuening (6'3"-315)
    Jacob Bell (6"4"-295)

I'm think the starting 5 will be:

    (LT)Jason Smith-(LG)Jacob Bell-(C)Jason Brown-(RG)Richie Incognito-(RT) Alex Barron.

But really who knows? With the new coaching staff that Spags has put together including Steve Loney (OL Coach) and Art Valero (Asst. OL Coach) they might evalute players differently than Linehan's crew did. They certainly have plenty of horses in the stable to chose from.

    GO RAMS!!!!

    Re: Offensive Line

that david oswalt is a big boy!

i can see the logic in starting jason smith on the left side because hopefully he will be there for the next 10+ years, but they say that alex barron plays better at left tackle and smith would be an upgrade over barron at right tackle so we'd seem stronger with barron - bell - brown - cogs/greco - smith

Barron is a better Lt than Rt
    Bell is too small

Grecco has a good shot to beat out Ritchie or play LG

Its a strange one ISB, I have a couple of feelings on Barron.

    1. He may be a better left tackle than right.
    2. Its his contact year, is it time for him to try ultra hard (then maybe leave?)

Even though we have obviously uprgraded our O line recently, I feel we cant afford to take another O lineman next year in round 1/2 when we will need, RB/WR/QB/ not mentioning our D line, or defensive backfield.

I am hoping O line is a strength next year.
The Breakfast Club. You want cheese with that?

    Re: Offensive Line

The Rams have a lot of options as far as who's going to get plugged in, which is good. Once that happens, the critical factor of developing a cohesive, consistent, gelling unit starts and hopefully stays on track. Nothing worse than the revolving door we've had the last several years. I have a feeling things are going to be very different this year.

I hate how people are putting potential OL like:

    LT- Barron/Smith
    LG- Bell
    C- Brown
    RG- Cogs/Greco/shueling
    RT- Barron/Smith

Mainly because of the LG spot. Because Bell should not be guaranteed the starter spot just because he is getting paid. Our old regime signed him. So i think the LG spot is just as open as the RG spot.

But i still think that OL has plenty to prove. Like:

    Can Barron improve mental mistakes?
Can Barron commit few penalties with a stable OL coach for once?
If Barron plays LT will Smith struggle at RT like Barron did?
    Will Bulger trust his line?
Was the only problem with our Guard play due to the inconsistent Center?
How will the depth react if one of the starters get hurt?
Can Jason Smith provide immediate impact?

    Re: Offensive Line

Like its been said before, just the fact that we have options to choose from, for the O-line, sounds exciting. I believe the starting line-up will be made up of these players.

    LT - Barron (6' 7", 315 lbs.)
    LG - Greco (6' 4", 315 lbs.)
    C - Brown (6' 3", 320 lbs.)
    RG - Incognito (6' 3", 330 lbs.)
    RT - Smith (6' 5", 309 lbs.)

The size of that O-line is nice. Our right side would be beastly if Jason Smith can gain some more weight. I'm sure Spags can get the best out of all of them. If that is the line-up we go with for the start of the season against Seattle, then I would not worry about the Shehawks's LB corps. Don't forget Karney will be behind The Great Wall of St. Louis when the ball snaps.

    Re: Offensive Line

I like the barron-bell-brown-cogs/Greco-smith plan the most. Although Richie plays aggressively, Greco might have a good chance of starting in 09

    Re: Offensive Line

I really think Barron plays much better at LT than RT and we can have him anchor Bulger's blind side and ease Smith in as RT....and Bell is top-tier at LG and Brown is a great C...Get Cogs calmed down just a tad at RG and i think we have a great offensive line! And let Jackson run behind them with upgrades at TE and FB for run-blocking and we are set! And pencil Bulger in for plenty of passing yards as well..We are noticeably thin at WR but have Avery as a deep threat and others will emerge as well
