Offensive line: Cream of the crop

Offensive line: Cream of the crop
    Wednesday, Apr. 15 2009
    Name Pos. Ht. Wt. College

    Eugene Monroe T 6-5 309 Virginia

It's a passing league, and his quick feet make him the best pass blocker in the
    draft.

    Jason Smith T 6-5 309 Baylor

Some question his pass blocking, but he's athletic and a better run blocker
    than Monroe.

    Michael Oher T 6-5 309 Mississippi

Lots of athleticism, but has had trouble adjusting to changes in blocking
    schemes.

    Andre Smith T 6-4 332 Alabama

Just turn on the tape and watch him work; off-field immaturity is an issue.

    Eben Britton T 6-6 309 Arizona

Some feel he has more competitiveness, more toughness than Monroe or J. Smith.

    RAMS NEEDS

This need sticks out like a sore thumb. The only full-time tackle on the
current roster is Alex Barron, and his contract expires after the 2009 season.
Other than Barron, the only other tackle prospects under contract that figure
to make the final roster in September are guard-tackles Adam Goldberg and John
Greco. You could make a case that the Rams need to add two tackles, not just
    one.

    TACKLE, THE SAFE PICK?

Since the Rams moved to St. Louis in 1995, 17 offensive tackles have been taken
among the top 10 overall picks in the draft. Ten of those 17 have made at least
    one Pro Bowl:

    — Tony Boselli, No. 2 overall 1995 (5 Pro Bowls)

    — Jonathan Ogden, No. 4 overall 1996 (11 Pro Bowls)

    — Willie Anderson, No. 10 overall 1996 (4 Pro Bowls)

    — Orlando Pace, No. 1 overall 1997 (7 Pro Bowls)

    — Walter Jones, No. 6 overall 1997 (9 Pro Bowls)

    — Chris Samuels, No. 3 overall 2000 (6 Pro Bowls)

    — Leonard Davis, No. 2 overall 2001 (2 Pro Bowls) *

    — Jordan Gross, No. 8 overall 2003 (1 Pro Bowl)

    — Joe Thomas, No. 3 overall 2007 (2 Pro Bowls)

    — Jake Long, No. 1 overall 2008 (1 Pro Bowl)

(*) _ Both Pro Bowl berths were at guard.

Again this Smith vs Monroe is a flip of the coin in my book. The question is what type of offense are we going to be?

    1. Run to set-up the pass?

    2. Pass to set-up the run?

My guess would be number 1.

Does that mean we select Smith? I wish I knew.

"‘No hay problema!" For me, Smith or Curry / Curry or Smith works out fine too.
