    Offical Bruce thread

With Little done .. now we can focus on our boy Isaac. There are a lot of memories and a lot of history with everyones favorite Ram. Whether his days are numbers or there is still room left in the locker room, we could spend many hours talking about his journey.

Anyone know how many games Isaac has missed in his career?? What do you think his numbers would look like if not for them couple years of "issues". Do you think there are any regrets on his part? How much is a fair price to keep him??

    Re: Offical Bruce thread

Not counting his rookie year, Bruce has missed 23 games in his brilliant career. The ironic thing is that in his best year of 1995 in which he had 119 catches for 1781 yards and 13 TD's, Jerry Rice decided to have his best year simultaneously.
As far as his current value,Bruce has been cut once before and already restructured to help the team out, so I think the Rams should just pay him his $ and show him the respect that he deserves.
Cutting him over a couple million dollars would be ridiculous, because they would be in effect cutting a lot of fans, myself included.

While I would love to just pay him the money, the fact of the matter is, we need the cap room. I wish I could say that he's worth his salary, but with his decreased health the last couple years and decreased production, he's just not. What I really wish would happen is that we just agree to hire him as a receivers coach upon his retirement with a hefty signing bonus for that.

    Re: Offical Bruce thread

Bruce still has either one or two years left in him, i think.
If he retires then the rams will have to get a very good receiver to fill Isaacs shoes.
But he should be back for '08

I'd love too have him back also, but at a reduced rate.
I know it's hard too cut a long time veteran of the team, but it just has too go that way sometimes if the player doesn't agree to the terms. For instance, Zach Thomas and the Dolphins.

I just hope both the Rams and Bruce are willing to get something done.

If the Rams are going to keep Bruce, it'll likely mean either (1) a pay cut or (2) an extension to spread out cap costs. Heck, could be both.

Ahhhhhh......Sentimental value. What to do...What to do?

I hope Ike stays in the Horns but the deal has to be right for the "TEAM".

I can't even think if him with Martz or any other team, get it done Bruce. It's not worth a few bucks.

You raise a good point. Mike Martz could use Isaac Bruce as SF has lousey receivers now and he would be a mentor for any young receivers they bring in. Plus for Martz that would be revenge to our FO for mistreating his departure.

    Get Isaac signed NOW!

    Go Rams!:r

    According to Bernie...

When i talked to Shaw about this, it was very much up in the air. The management is agonizing over it. They wanted to speak with Ike's agent but I don't know how that went, or how it's going.

    Re: Offical Bruce thread

He'll have to re-do his contract, but I can also see the Rams letting him go and then just signing him again as a free agent.
However... if he is cut, he could get a really good offer from Mike Martz and the 9ers... I do NOT want to see that.

    Re: Official Bruce thread

Yes, it happens all the time, that is, from time to time. Great players -- legends in their own time -- moving on to a different team for one reason or another (team money).

Hoosierdaddy mentioned the recent departure of Zach Thomas from Miami; that must have hurt many a Dolphin diehard fan. In fact, even I would have expected or preferred for Zach to retire as a Phin.

Seeing these players don a different uniform is as dreadful as it is painful. For their respective fans anyway: Deacon Jones. Johnny Unitas. Roman Gabriel. Jack Pardee. Joe Namath. Joe Montana. Eric Dickerson, Junior Seau, et al. It is a rather sad list.

Right now I just do NOT, cannot see the venerable Sir Isaac Bruce in another team's colors! :bash:
