Re: OFFICIAL (and only) "Rams to L.A." Thread
It would be quite interesting if they did bring an AFC and NFC team back. As diverse as this town is, they would definitely have a better chance of selling out all games that way and this time around it's only one stadium instead of two (the former two being 35 miles apart). They could save in paint both teams being blue and yellow of course... ;)

Your figures are wrong, Las Cruces NM has the highest crime rate since I live here...
On a serious note I thought New Orleans was the murder capital?
Re: OFFICIAL (and only) "Rams to L.A." Thread
Anyone read Stans transcripts from his interview in london?
"London is a great place and a great market. So, comparably in the US, you would talk about Los Angeles and New York. There was a study done in the States and if you ask any 20- to 30-year-old person where they would most like to live if they didn't live where they presently lived, they will tell you LA and New York. It's interesting because players are a lot of times 20-30 years old, so where are they most likely to gravitate? If you ask players in the US, they'll say being in LA or New York is a pretty good place to be for 20-30 year olds."

I still believe that's the way it will go. One NFC team and one AFC team.
...only I don't think it willl be the Rams for the NFC. The Vikings latest talks about a new stadium just crashed and burned and it's looking more and more like the purple gang is coming to LA. Not the team I want to see here representing the NFC. Too many bad memories about the Vikings/Rams. Also, we already have one team here (also from Minnesota) wearing purple and gold. We don't need (or want, myself personally) two.
On the AFC side, I think it's a no-brainer the Chargers will be here in 2012. I would definitely support the Chargers if they come. The Vikings, Bills or Raiders. Not a chance.
Moonjoe....Norco? Moved from Surf City?

RFRH,
I don't get this comment at all. Are you saying that you wouldn't want a new team to have the same level of success as the Lakers have had?
BTW technically the Lakers colors are "Forum Blue" and Gold. At least that is what Chick used to say that former owner Jack Kent Cooke said.....:D
WHAT SAY YE?
Re: OFFICIAL (and only) "Rams to L.A." Thread
This thread reminds me of the Occupy <insert city name here>. Both are getting a little attention right now, butin the end, it will not change anything.

Not exactly true. The talks haven't "crashed and burned", actually they moved into a different phase. The people that live in the county that would house the proposed stadium were not real keen on the idea of being the only ones in the state to pay an increased sales tax to build the stadium. Can't say I really blame them. However, there is a great deal of talk about adding some gaming (slots, etc) to the local horseracing facility (the "Racino" proposal), or puting a casino in downtown Minneapolis. They figure a casino would raise upwards of $100 million a year. There's also talk of only installing electronic pull-tab machines at the horseracing track. They estimate that would bring in $30 million a year. So, the issue is FAR from dead up here.
The funding issue is still only part of the stadium hullabaloo. The Vikings owner wants the stadium on a large parcel of land (I believe approx 600 acres), just north of Minneapolis. He wants to build a stadium, and then develop the rest of the area (shops, restaurants, hotels, etc). While many lawmakers want to build a new stadium in downtown Minneapolis. In the same spot that the Metrodome now occupies. Mr Wilf REALLY wants the other site. I think that's the bigger battle.
The Vikings leaving Minnesota would be like the Bears leaving Chicago, or the Packers leaving Green Bay. It shouldn't even be allowed to happen. It does so much harm to the local economy and it really hurts the NFL on the whole.

Yeah, from Surf City USA to Horse Town USA! We sold the HB house in March and closed on our new house in July. I got almost an acre and plenty of room for the rv and wife's horse. Long story short, the son moved out and we decided it was a good time to make this move while the market was soft and I had money in the old place. I actually like it here, except for the long drive back to the beach for waves.
Anyway, I wouldn't mind the Chargers coming back IF the Rams returned first. Otherwise I wouldn't care where the Bolts end up.
Re: OFFICIAL (and only) "Rams to L.A." Thread
MoonJoe,
Good for you guy's. Take RV to the beach and chill :)
I cannot think about Rams ever returning since it was sooo hard for me when they left. Imagine.....The team with an owner that has a clue, actually doing well in the city of angels. not too hard to believe.

What I'm saying is I don't care for the Lakers, and anything that reminds me of them I don't want. (not a fan of the NBA) ...and it's no longer "forum blue", since they now play in the Staples Center.
Same level of success, yes.
But mostly I have too many bad memories of Fran Tarkenton and Bud Grant, etc.... killing the Rams postseason year after year. Them and the freakin' Cowboys. Plus, I'd hate to see the fans of Minnesota lose their team. Too much history there. The Chargers started here, and their fans can still drive the hour north to watch the games.

Don't care for the Lakers!?!?....Philistine!!!! ;):D
But yeah, I too have horrid memories of the Viqueens wrecking our Rams' playoff hopes. The worst memory is the playoff game we lost in LA to the Bob Freakin' Lee led club. No Tarkenton, no Kapp but Bob &*%$^ Lee!!. Ugh...the absolute nadir of a game.
I still have nightmares over Carl Eller but the ultimate ones belong to Alan Page. He was just unblockable and a complete pain in the keester.
WHAT SAY YE?
Re: OFFICIAL (and only) "Rams to L.A." Thread
I don't want ANY of those two teams in LA, ONLY one matters: The RAMS
Re: OFFICIAL (and only) "Rams to L.A." Thread
I'll be so happy for this thread to end when the Compton Jaguars represent the greater Los Angeles areas.
