Re: Official: Ryan NOT hired as Rams DC
Might as well speculate like the media does:
Ryan had a few guys in mind to fill out the D coaching staff including replacing maybe some people already on-board and he and Fisher could not agree so that became the deal-breaker. Notice how Frank Bush was hired right about the same time the Ryan-Rams talks ended formally.
It's got be more than the 3-4/4-3 scheme since that would have seemed to have ended talks immediately if Fisher and Ryan disagreed over that.

Definitely. Seems like Ryan knows his career is on the line and wants more control than Fisher would've given him.
I for one like Rob Ryan and wish him well, but there are still some good candidates out there, including the in-house coaches.

BTW, there should be a penalty flag thrown right at Schefter (interference) AND fined by the NFL!

I wonder if the Saints opening has something to do with this. They reported they fired Spags because they wanted to go to a 3-4. Lets see of Rob get an interview.

The boisterous Ryan was fired as defensive coordinator of the Cowboys on Jan. 8, soon after owner Jerry Jones said he would make major changes to a team that finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.
Saints coach Sean Payton would only say Ryan will interview with the Saints at the end of the week, when asked Wednesday morning to address the hiring in a phone interview with ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike in the Morning."
Ryan, after his ouster in Dallas, said,"I'll be out of work for like five minutes."
The St. Louis Rams visited twice with Ryan but ultimately decided not to hire him as his addition was not a good "scheme fit," according to coach Jeff Fisher.
