RAMS AGREE TO TERMS WITH RB WILLIAMS
Wednesday, August 2, 2006
The Rams have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with RB Moe Williams. Williams, 6-1, 205, is an 11-year veteran out of Kentucky. Entering theleague in 1996, he played all but one season with the Minnesota Vikings. In 2001, he played with the Baltimore Ravens.

Re: Official site: Williams the guy
Well I guess this beats giving up a draft pick for Benett. I'm still a bit weary about his health due to a failed physical but I know that Linehan and company know what they are doing. I'm still pushing for Fred Russel to hang in there and win a roster spot.

Re: Official site: Williams the guy
No risk of any kind on this signing. It may or may not help, but i dont see how it can hurt. Worst comes to worst, we can suit up lawrence mccutcheon.

Re: Official site: Williams the guy
Like I've said from the beginning. Anyone Linehan wants, there's a reason for it. He worked with Williams before, I don't think this is a negative thing at all. I think it'll only turn out positively imo.

Re: Official site: Williams the guy
The only way the RB situation will be positive is if Steven Jackson is healthy and starts at least 15 games.

Re: Official site: Williams the guy
At least he has been with Linehan before, not a bad signing in my mind considering whats out there, plus he didn't cost the Rams a draft choice..we will see

Re: Official site: Williams the guy
So Moe Williams it is... not the worst, not the best, but maybe the best on what was reachable and available... the Linehan/Viks/Williams is set for us in our favour at least...

A good safe pick up. Now lets see what Washington or Russell will do. I think this year we'll probably end up with 4 backs

Well [*sigh*], I'll go with that, much to my chagrin. I hope Moe is deternined this year to right any wrongs and drop any baggage he may have had in the past and ... make the grade, i.e., become a dependable, productive RB with the Rams. It is a new, serious opportunity for this man.
I agree in that Coach Linehan knows what he's doing with this signing. It's up to Moe not to let him down.

I'm curious as to what you are thinking when you imply that Williams has let people down in the past?
I know he had the boat incident, but that got blown out of proportion. It didn't affect their game, it's not like those players skipped a game or practice or anything to go party on a boat.
So I'm not sure what you are referring to RR.
I like the signing, it didn't cost us any draft picks and it's another veteran back in the backfield. The more bodies the better. Now we can also use Fisher on special teams which is where he was slated to play before Faulk decided he couldn't play this year.

Re: Official site: Williams the guy
RBruce, I'm referring to Moe not letting Coach Linehan down NOW, from this point on.
MW isn't what I would have preferred but I'll support him. :ramlogo:

If you're referring to his first visit, that was back in May I believe. A lot can happen between now and then.
This is about as good a move you're going to make without sacrificing a draft pick. The Rams tried to get Bennett for a fourth, which is more than fair, and the Saints said no. Brown doesn't want to go anywhere anymore, so this was really the only option. Williams should be fine with a couple touches a game, Fisher will get some as well, and we'll have a pretty decent rotation.

Ok, and his baggage that you refer to is just the boat incident then?
