The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
In the next 10 days, a lot of players are going to be waived as teams cut down their rosters to 53.
The Rams may be interested in some of these players. Perhaps a safety? An OT? A LB?
So we don't have a "_____ was just released... should the Rams be interested?" thread for every player waived, I'm creating this one thread for all of those discussions.
So...
Is there a player you're watching who you think might be another team's trash, but the Rams' treasure?
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
I want the Rams to sign Calvin Middleton to their practice squad.
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
Oshiomogho Atogwe on the bubble would not mind getting him back.
Eagles released S O.J. Atogwe.
As usual, Atogwe was banged up for the majority of camp and barely practiced. It's a terrible sign that a team starting Kurt Coleman at safety is letting Atogwe go. Look for the Eagles to scour the waiver for safety help this weekend.

We like to keep the proverbial populist threads all in one place.
This subject at this time of the year will most certainly qualify.
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
IDK if this counts but i still want us to go get Plaxico Burress
Watching Bradford struggle at the goal line vs. dallas had me think what if Plax went up to get that ball on 1st n goal instead of pettis

I'm thinking if Quick was in the game he could go get that ball.

This is funny. There is a thread on JetNation right now where someone is imagining Plaxico in a puffy shirt because of the mutiny he caused in the huddle and lockerroom. FWIW, there is another 9 page thread on Roy Williams and 4 pages on Jabbar Gaffney.
Plaxico is good in the red zone, bad between the 20's. He seems pretty slow, but will still go and get the ball. I don't think he'll be a good fit for a team that might struggle and after having him last year I doubt Schottenheimer wants anything to do with him. He seems to dog it when things aren't going his way. Still has talent though.
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
Let's not make this thread about Plaxico Burress.
M-kay?
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
I will tell you one guy who I just read on rotoworld is looking to get cleared to play again from his neck injury...Nick Collins.
He was a All-Pro safety before his injury. Packers released him for fear of re-injury, but if he really wants to continue playing, and gets medical clearance...I'd love to give him a shot.
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
I'd certainly take Collins over Dahl... but I still think that Stewart is a great undrafted find and can make a good SS. That said, rolling the dice on Collins could pay dividends either with what he could teach Stewart along side of Mikell or with regaining his all-pro form. I'd give it a shot, if the price is right.
Who'd I'd be interested in kicking the tires on would be Cooley. Kendricks could develop into a beast of a TE, but why not bring in a guy who I would guarantee would get a TD and 100 yards against the Skins, pushing our draft compensation up just that little bit more when we win. Again, I'd take a slightly worse for wear vet above unproven talent, or lack there of, and hope that he teaches the other guys at his position some stuff.
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
If Nick Collins was healthy (I said lets pick him up months ago), I'd have him starting over both of our safeties.
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
Patriots released S James Ihedigbo.
Ihedigbo appeared in all 16 games last season, starting 12, but was made expendable after the Pats used a sixth-round pick on S Nate Ebner. Ihedigbo played nearly 2/3 of New England's defensive snaps in 2011, but was a frequent burn victim in coverage. He's best utilized as a special teamer.
Not sayin I want him...
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
Rams released DE Vernon Gholston.
Gholston ended up just being a body for the Rams' fourth preseason game, where he made a tackle. Out of the league last season, the No. 6 pick of the 2008 draft is probably at the end of the line.
Not sure Av if you wanted cuts on this thread.
Re: The Official Waiver Wire Prospects Thread
OJ Atogwe was cut off of Philadelphia.
