    OL Changes announced

We knew that the Rams were going to change the line positions around, with Jason Brown possibly coming into the lineup.

Well we ended last week as follows:
    LT: Kevin hughes
    LG: Jacob Bell
    C: Tony Wragge
    RG: Harvey Dahl
    RT: Adam Goldberg

Martin Kilcoyne has reported on Twitter, and this was also posted on Rotoworld, that the starting lineup this Sunday against the Cards will be:

    LT: Adam Goldberg
    LG: Jacob Bell
    C: Tony Wragge
    RG: Jason Brown
    RT: Harvey Dahl

It's an interesting change, and I guess the idea is to get some experience at the two tackle spots. It also does bring Jason Brown off the bench. Brown was benched and replaced by Tony Wragge after reports that he was tipping the snap count with his head movements. Brown had actually been grading well as a blocker, so putting him at guard and allowing him to just block rather than snap also could mean he plays quite well. Brown has played guard previously.

Goldberg has played LT previously, but has not been great. He has been fairly solid at RT though, so hopefully his play transitions well over to the left side. He can't be any worse than Hughes was. I don't mean to be unfair to Hughes, since he was thrown in at the deep end, but Goldberg should be a better option at LT. Dahl can play RT, and along with Jacob Bell has been one of the few decent players on the OL.
The only issue I have is that Dahl was playing well at Guard, so I don't know if moving him is a good idea.

The best thing about this though is that it puts the best blockers we have on the field, regardless of their normal positions.

I agree with Tomahawk. The situation stinks, but we need the best we have on the field. Hughes is simply not a viable option at this point. Anyone know if jason smith (aka The Human Bust) is coming back anytime soon?

    Cheers man.

As for Smith, no idea. Last I heard was a little while back where they tried him on a stationary bike, but as soon as he tried to exert himself he started feeling the effects of the concussion still.

If that's true it sounds like an absolutely terrible concussion and I'm not surprised they are being careful with him.

I'll go out on a limb and say we probably won't see him again this season.

I'll go out on a limb and say we probably won't see him again at all. Concussions build on themselves and can cause lasting damage...he's had what...two major concussions now and at least one or two lesser ones?

    Re: OL Changes announced

Think there's talent outside the 1st round for a right tackle who can step up? Or we can get Demetrius Bell from Buffalo who is very solid against the run and an above average pass protector as a FA. Whatever the case may be, this is the worst Rams season ever.. so much injuries...

Officially Jason Smith was put on IR today. But I kind of like this line up. I cant wait to see the running room SJAX gets on the right side of the field. We may aswell forget about running to the left.

I agree that the right side should be pretty nasty, especially if they line kendricks up there too

    Re: OL Changes announced

I actually like this change a lot. Really wouldn't be surprised if they perform better than any other line we've had.
At LT I don't think Goldberg can do much worse than Saffold had been doing.
At C Wragge has done a very solid job.
At RT I think Dahl is an upgrade over Goldberg and Smith.
At RG I think Brown will do a solid job.
And at LG Bell has been solid all year.

I think this might work out honestly whats worse than we been putting on the field all season lol.But i hope this is the final straw to either cutting or restructuring his contract so he doesnt make so much jeez.

    Re: OL Changes announced

I am glad to see Brown back in, I thought he was doing pretty well for the most part (although if he was tipping the snap count that would affect the ENTIRE O-line, and even the TEs and RBs if they blocked).

Interested to see how Goldberg does... he's pretty much been the "We got a guy hurt, let's put Adam here for this week... oh now this guy is hurt so Adam you are going here now" guy and has done a pretty solid job overall.

It's a very unproven lineup, but we know the guys CAN play well. If they do I think the O-line will be good enough to open some holes for Jax and give Bradford enough time... can't be much worse that it has been in several games this year.

    Re: OL Changes announced

    I also wouldn't mind seeing

    LT - Goldberg
    LG - Brown
    C - Wragge
    RG - Dahl
    RT - Bell

I'd like Dahl to stay at RG since he's been having success, and my line-up makes the interior pretty strong, but with our new line-up, the right side should be pretty physical.
