our best(and worst) off season moves?
I know I have made it clear I thought we stood way too pat for a 3-13 team. Others see us as just being snake bit by ijuries last year and we should be fine now. But none the less, a 3-13 team needs to improve in the off season. So what do you think were the best and worst moves of this off season by our beloved Rams?
I have a toss up for best move.......
Either drafting Long or replacing JW with Brown.
We either have an even better Winstrom or Howie I hope and believe. But it was a great job replacing one pro bowl kicker with another. And stealing him from the 'Hawks makes it even sweeter.
Also torn on the worst......
Letting Bruce go to the ***** or not persuing any top tier FA's.
Probably gonna be pissed about this Bruce thing for quite some time.

Re: our best(and worst) off season moves?
Bell, Green and Brown are excellent new comers for the rolls they will be asked to fill. I thought our draft was very good also.
I can't approach the 2008 season with the (3-13) mentality in my mind. We were not and are not a (3-13) team, period.
Let's face it, we really have no where to go but up. I'm expecting some GIANTS steps up. At the very least (8-8) for 2008 which would be a disappoinment in my mind.
Losing IKE was big. It's always tough to swallow when our team let's a fan favorite get away. Jeff Wilkins retiring was big too. I give alot of credit to our team for going out and getting Josh Brown.

New coaches, some free agents, new draft class, new season. WHo cares about last year. Let's hope the Rams can stay healthy and then we will know what kind of talent this team has......

Re: our best(and worst) off season moves?
The best is tough to say since we didn't do much in the free agent market, and the draftees are so hard to judge when you haven't seen them play. I'm tempted to say Long, but I'll go with hiring Al Saunders. That was really a great choice.
For worst choice, I'd have to go with the Bruce situation. It's not because we didn't sign him; it's because of the way it was handled. The story from Bruce's camp was that he believed he had been lied to about this year's bonus. Jay stiffs him on the deal, offering to pay him $3 million for one year when he had been scheduled to make $1 mill + a $4 mill bonus (which Zygmunt had allegedly assured him last year that they really would pay). So Bruce leaves and takes 2 years @ $6 million from our arch-nemesis. It's hard to say it was all about the Benjamins when we offered him 3 mill/year and so did they. It seems like it was about a breach in trust. And so Mr. Ram, "the Reverend" Isaac Bruce, the last Ram standing from the L.A. years leaves under a dark cloud.
I get that he's 35 and we had our backs up against the cap. I really do. But we put him through this cut-and-sign ordeal last off-season, and if we had signed him to any kind of extension, we'd probably put him through this again next off-season. Even in business there's a such thing as acting in good faith.

Definately Al is the best thing to happen to us. Also Jacob Bell would be a close second.
The worst thing to do was releasing Bruce.

The best... Getting our OL healthy again, with Bell making it fairly deep.
Worst, hands fown, letting reverend Ike get away, especially the way it was handled.
SJ behind this line, 1500 yds on the ground this year.

Re: our best(and worst) off season moves?
Best moves .. Coaching: Saunders. Best FA acquisition: (I'll stick my neck out on this next one) Anthony Becht. The draft is another animal .. We'll have to wait a few years to judge that one. Worst off-season move (this season) .. I really don't know. Losing Bruce was emotionally taxing, but it may have been the right thing to do. If Ike lights it up for the whiners, it will look terrible, but on the other hand, if one of our rookies, or Caldwell or Bennett steps up big time, the blow of losing him will be cushioned .. or better. I like our chances this year ... Yeah, Yeah, I know ... I say that every year ..

Best move - letting Byrd go
Worst move - Not drafting Dorsey.

Re: our best(and worst) off season moves?
Best - Drafting Long. I would have been really p'd if we had taken Dorsey. i don't care how much better the 'experts' think he is. We have no spot for him after last year.
Worst - Letting Bruce go. When he takes the whiners into the playoffs this year I hope every member of our FO gets the boot. I can already see it next year on NFL films - "dumbest realeased players of all time, #1 BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE"
I just swore a lot out loud.

Re: our best(and worst) off season moves?
Best move - Jacob Bell - I can't believe this guy has stayed as far off the radar as he has. Weeping and gnashing of teeth over not signing Faneca, but signing the younger version of Faneca doesn't spark a thing?
Worst move - Isaac Bruce - It won't have the effect on the field that some think, but it does push the lockerroom back significantly, I would think.
