Re: Our defence should join the circus
Little gets a bit of a break from me cause he's being double teamed quite a bit. Pisa looks like the only linebacker doing anything on the field. As for the secondary, I thought Archuleta looked better tonight. Edwards looked okay. Nice open field tackle on Favre to save the drive, but he whiffed on covering Franks earlier in the night. That's really about it.

Larry Marmie has no business being a NFL Defensive Coordinator.

Re: Our defence should join the circus
They are certainly not good enough for ringling brothers. Maybe a small regional circus.
Archuleta is playing hurt. Pisa is solid. I like travis fisher. Butler is adequate. Little is getting double teamed every play. After that, check please. If anyone thinks that we have average talent on defense, they are just deluding themselves. We are getting physically mauled at the point of attack, the size of the holes over and over are enormous. We are getting no pass rush and no push up the middle. Our middle linebacker play has got to be the worst in the nfl.

Tanus, in just 9 words and 1 acronym, you have managed to sum up the entire year.

Re: Our defence should join the circus
Little was being double-teamed, no player could fight off two and expect to be successful. However, when two DTs and a DE are all single-teamed, at least one of them had better be whipping their man and finding the QB. Pickett, Howard, Lewis & B. Fisher were getting beat down the entire night. It was the saddest thing I've seen in a long time. On a brighter note, Kennedy gave a solid effort. He was in good position and showed heart by actually pursuing across the field to make tackles. This kid has a future (until Marmie yanks that fire out of him) & Tyoka has heart, no physical ability, but tons of heart.
There is exactly one LB that is earning his paycheck and that's Pisa. If all the others are playing with injury then I retract my statement, but otherwise Pisa's the only one worth paying.
In the secondary, Fisher is looking better. Butler looks more comfortable with Fisher in the game, and Arch is playing well, considering the back problems. Poor Aeneas is a shell, like Tyoka - tons of heart, but a shell still the same. Rich Coady needs to be coaching NAIA football somewhere. Once Edwards gains a little more comfort with this system, he will be productive.
Stemke looked decent, I guess we'll give him a shot.

Re: Our defence should join the circus
This defense needs to be sent packing with the exception of a few after this season. Marmie and Coady have no business being in the NFL. A few need to retire (sadly), and a few others belong in Arena Football, while others need to find a new career. It is just sickening to watch...

We are just too small. We get pushed around every game.

This really is a good point. We couldn't break through a wet paper sack if we needed to. I think if we get bigger and stronger, we're able to break through some of the blocking and make some plays. It just looks like our small/quick defenders are getting shoved out of the way, hence a lot of big rushing holes.

Re: Our defence should join the circus
size really isn't the issue...can't believe i had to say that...
our defenders have little or no technique in terms of using their arms and hands to shed blocks... it seems like any and all defenders get stuck to their opponent on running plays...
