Our WRs today against the Seahawks
Comments? Assertions?
I personally think Amendola did a heck of a job today, getting open, getting YAC, and he would have had a great TD catch if Boller didn't underthrow him for an interception
Gibson was decent today, had some drops that should have been caught.
Avery is Avery. Doesn't have great hands, does most of his best work with short passes giving him space to use his speed and agility.
Ruvell Martin was a nice surprise. Made some solid catches. Hope he can contribute more for the rest of the season.

Re: Our WRs today against the Seahawks
Avery has made some unbelievable grabs since he's been here. Any issues he has are more likely concentration than his hans ...
As for the dropped passes today, what is a catchable ball to you determines how these receivers performed ....
Sure, Gibson dropped one that was six inches off the turf, and another that was to his side and on the turf, and another that was barely touched his fingertips on his outstretched arms. These are barely catchable balls ...
Amendola is a gem. Better lock him up now ...

Re: Our WRs today against the Seahawks
The pass that you mentioned was 6 inches off the ground was very catchable...
Gibson himself was mad that he didn't catch it..
IMO, it was a pass that he should have caught.
BUT, Boller did NOT do a great job of delivering the ball to Gibson on numerous occasions, and to his other receivers too.

Re: Our WRs today against the Seahawks
Im going to do a scouting reports from what i see in our receivers.
Avery- He has his up and down days, Sometimes he is our best wr no question. Then some days he just seems like he isnt trying as hard. Give him another year see how he does.
Amendola- Ok seriously sign the man to a long term contract now.
Gibson-Keep him around and see what he can do in a whole year, has alot of potential.
Martin-Made some solid catches provides a veteran presence that we can use, if he doesnt want an obscene amount of money sign him.
Robinson- Give him until next year and see if he can stay healthy for most of the season, if he can he will be our best receiver.

Re: Our WRs today against the Seahawks
Avery is still our best play maker out there. The kid is too fast, give him some space and time, he'll burn you.
Amendola is a gem! He deserves a score for his effots[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: Our WRs today against the Seahawks
The problem is that he has had open space before and has dropped it, On the other and he has had more then his fair share of errant throws that he is asked to make. I dont think he is our biggest playmaker anymore, that goes to sjax, or amendola. Again i say give him another year to prove himself.

Re: Our WRs today against the Seahawks
It's hard to assess just how good and effective our WR can be until our QB is able to stand in the pocket and deliver catchable balls consistently. I watch other team's games and it is evident to me how much less they are harassed by the rush than our QB's are game in and game out.
Another thing I notice is that our receivers have a hard time getting separation from coverage compared to other receivers. It seems every pass is contested by the defense and as a result, even when completed, we don't get much YAC.

Re: Our WRs today against the Seahawks
Amendola reminds me a lot of Wes Welker. The move he made on an out route where he stopped and spun around and gained about another ten yds was awesome. He goes from zero to top speed just like that. He isnt the fastest guy but he's quick like Welker. If used in the right way he could be an exciting player.
Just Fix It

Re: Our WRs today against the Seahawks
I think your receivers are a impressive group. When you get your line solidified and your QB gets time to throw (whoever it turns out to be), they'll get the job done for you without needing any big-name additions.
